The neighborhood we used to live in consisted of no thru streets. Just several kind of dead in streets. Also, the houses were close together. As a result, it was nothing for us to get 125-150 kids. Our cocker spaniel we had at the time was a barker. We would put her upstairs in our bedroom. Every time the doorbell rang she would bark her head off. For the 3-4 days after Halloween she would have laryngitis.

We were cleared out of 2 big Costco-sized bags of candy by 8 o’clock. There was one house giving out full size candy bars and my 2-year old picked Twizzlers. Rookie mistake!

Adoption should be considered.

Our house is directly on the main road through our large neighborhood in Greensboro, and every year the neighborhood collects money to fund the city bringing out cones and barriers to shut off the street on either end and block off all the side streets for like 8 blocks. Trick-or-treating paradise. We went out for about an hour without kids around 6:15-6:30 then came back to hand out candy. Got through about 2.5 big bags; I would guess 300 kids or so. (In addition to neighborhood kids, lots of folks come from outside the neighborhood to trick or treat.) Had a fire outside (even though it really wasn't cold enough) and hung out with neighbors while the kids handed out the candy. Good times.

Anyone remember those videotaped cruel jokes played on kids the morning after Halloween depicting that the parents had eaten all the candy through the night and there wasn't any left . . ?

I recall asking this on the ZZL Off Topic board and it has gained momentum from over the years :

Would you be in favor of moving Halloween to the last Saturday in October instead of it always falling on the 31st . . ?

So, you ate your kids’ candy. All of it.

Jimmy Kimmel would be proud.

Carpenter's best soundtrack IMO, is from Prince of Darkness (1987), and it's a fine movie as well. Check it out, if interested. If you like the Halloween soundtracks, you'll like this one too.

Fun fact: I actually own one of the vintage synths he used to create it.

Yes! Underrated film and fantastic soundtrack.

I gave out 74lbs of candy on Thursday. I kept the last 1lbs bag of Reese's for myself and went to the party my neighbor was throwing next door.
