Happy Gilmore 2

Have not seen it yet but glad to see Tim Herluny listed as co-wroter. Sandler's best work IMO has come when he and Herliny co-write: original SNL, the first few Sandler movies and the 2020 SNL return of Sandler episode. Sandler is a pretty good writer but can be formulaic somewhat withouyg someone like Herliny.
Those first few Sandler movies including Happy Gilmore are a unique blend of stupidity, everyman charm, sentimentality and off the wall fairly inspored creativity. I mean who thinks of doing a scene where the paired golfer and celeb fight at a celebrity Pro Am
I agree with this.

I also didn't know that Martin from Please Don't Destroy (who has a small role in the movie) is Martin Herlihy and Tim's son until now. I don't know that it has any real meaning, but I just learned it and found it interesting.

I mean… I expected it to be dumb. I wasn’t expecting Oscar winning performances… but it just felt like something tossed together just for the sake of a sequel. They phoned it in big time… Killing Julie Bowen was lame.
I think they very much leaned into the nostalgia factor and it certainly plays a big part in the movie. I can understand if some folks think it overwhelms the movie.

And, yeah, fridging Virginia annoyed me. It's probably my biggest complaint about the movie.

I thought it was really good. It did exactly what I was hoping it would do. Nostalgia everywhere. This wasn’t a movie that was trying to win an Academy Award or something.

Thought it was awesome how many modern professional golfers were in the movie. They all did really well too.

I think Thin Red Line was still the worst movie I have ever seen
Wait, what? The Malick film? This one, with an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes?

You must have been a in a bad mood or you just didn't get it. I can understand how some people might not like it, but the worst ever is just mind-boggling.

I had low expectations and still thought it was terrible. The Maxi golf plot line was where it really got off the rails for me. Scheffler was pretty funny.

Watched it last evening. Low expectations.

It’s ok if you want to be mindlessly entertained. Some nostalgic value.

Given the budget that went into it which was probably hundreds of millions of dollars, I think that you could make a factual case that it’s the worst film of all time.
