Hot Stove: UNC Basketball [Don’t divulge IC Premium Info Please]

I’d like Trimble and VAL off the bench and Cadeau/Powell as starters

It seems unlikely Ian would want to come back

Need a ton from the portal even in that scenario

nbadraft.net has Ian Jackson at 12, which seems about right. He's definitely gone.

It has Drake at 52, and predicts he will stay another year. That's surprising to me. Maybe I'm overestimating Powell's pro potential and/or interest from NBA teams. Not that nbadraft.net is a gold standard but it's not nothing.

A mock on nba.com by bleacher report has Jackson at #37 and Powell not listed.

So I might be totally overestimating their appeal to NBA teams.

Just a note but you should make this UNC sports unless you want Duke, tech and State opinions in here

Which we are happy to give 😂
As long as the opinion is about UNC players, which is the topic, go ahead.

As for Tech and State, who cares. Dook has already pretty much reloaded so what's to talk about?

EC needs to be our starting PG next year
Ian has "a shot" at the starting SG We will bring in another one from the portal in addition to 6-4 Derek Dixon-who might start-and Dossier-who won't start.
Trimble may stay-he would ideally be a '6th man"
Jalen can stay if wants to be 3rd string.
Powell will stay unless he gets drafted on potential
Lubin should stay-second string
We will put a lot into a starting Center and shooting guard from th e portal
Lots of decisons will be made on our and other teams player payroll allocation. We may want to see if Ian can grow into his potential-Pitino may offer him "star" money-we likely won't offer him huge $-because of his Freshmen like year
We hope and pray Caleb Wilson will be a starting 4
If Ian were to stay, I believe he's the starting shooting guard.

We need to focus on a Center. I like who we have, but none of them are ready to be the starting center. Poor JWash got pushed around so much in the first half the other day, unless he can add 20lbs of muscle he's not a starter.

I would like to see:

Cadeau at the point next season.
Ian at the 2. If Ian is a lottery pick, he has to go.
Powell at the 3. Same here, lottery pick and he has to go.
Wilson at the 4.
And someone from the portal that is a rim protector and a great rebounder. If he can shoot that would be a plus.
Could you imagine a player like Maxime Raynaud at center for us?

The back up guards would have to work themselves out between Trimble, Dixon, and Denis.
James Brown, Washington, Lubin, and possibly High as the bench for bigs. Considering this, I could see Washington leaving.

Tyson should probably enter the portal.

If Washington were to also transfer, we would have at least 3 open spots. Go Big. Assuming that Brown, Lubin, and possibly High could back up the 4 and 5, the open spots need to be filled with a center, and shooters.

Don’t see why being a lottery pick makes any difference.

First round deals are now guaranteed for two seasons, right. The team must exercise the 3rd year before the 2nd year starts; 4th year before the 3rd year starts. Pretty certain it’s been this way for a while.

If you have a guaranteed deal for two seasons, GO!
