He did go off for 26/27 points against two ACC teams this season so he's capable of getting hot.
Yeah, I used to be capable of getting hot too. Doesn't mean anyone would want me on the team.

Obviously I exaggerate about that, but capability of getting hot is a player trait of little value. In fact, it could arguably be a negative trait. Caleb Love was always capable of getting hot, which was a reason his FG% was so bad. This guy shot 34% from the field this past year.

I'm fine with getting as many guys as we can. The opportunity cost here seems to be incredibly low. And it's also true that just getting minutes for a power 5 school means something, even if it's on a bad team in a bad conference. Most of our truly horrible pickups were guys who couldn't get minutes elsewhere and guess what, couldn't get minutes for us either. McCoy, that center whose name I don't remember, etc. So there's some potential here. Not a lot, but you never know -- sometimes 7th round draft picks pan out.

I think that people are going to be pleasantly surprised by Mr. Young's game. He likely isn't a starter, but will be a key piece off the bench, and should work well with Trimble, when the two are on the court together.

He's going to have to improve on that 29% 3 point shooting if he wants to share the court with Trimble. I'd imagine he will be Trimble's backup.

I also note that Young is six feet four - keeping with HD's desire to go tall this season. Also, averaged 16.3 pts per game his last six games. Is that a trend, I don't know but we can hope.

I wish we hear something positive from Stojakovic as he seems like a big piece now that Drake is likely gone.

yeah, he's a UNC legacy via both parents and related to HD and maybe walter? maybe not, not sure which side he's related to hubert on.

"one semester footnote" is a stupid and shitty way to refer to him, for sure.
Meh. It’s basically what he is in a basketball sense. Certainly not on the same level as Hubert Davis.

its just unnecessarily brusque and factually incorrect - he was on the team the whole season, 2 semesters.

this fanbase loves to rag on dook's "the brotherhood" slogan in light of how much roster turnover they've often had but we've got fans out here calling kids "one semester footnotes."

we can do better.

It’s what it is. Powell averaged 7 points a game on a not so great UNC team. He’s a footnote in UNC basketball history.

PG- Trimble, Evans, Dixon
SG- Powell, Young, Denis
SF- Stevenson?, Portal (Stojakovic, Watkins, Luis Jr?), DP (return)
PF- Wilson, Stevenson (If DP returns), High,
C- Veesaar, Brown, (Lubin?)

Hmmmm,

Not sure we are ahead of what could have been:
Cadeau, Trimble, Dixon
Jackson, Powell, Denis
Drake, Portal (Stojakovic, Watkins, Luis Jr?)
Wilson, Stevenson
Veesaar, Lubin, Brown

I guess Haggerty is still available if we need more guards. :)
Fland is still there too, what might have been... From what I've read he's pretty much staying in the draft, correct?

Interesting considering your normal overly positive positions.
I have nothing against the kid but he didn’t impact the program in any meaningful way and jumped as soon as he could.

I don’t understand why people are acting like he was more than he was.

Best of luck to him.

It doesn’t really work that way anymore though.

Once the season is over every player is a free agent and teams are basically rebuilding.

1. Venture capital is exploring buying partial ownership of college athletic departments.

2. Why do colleges in the united states have major athletic programs in the first place?

3. Should colleges form public-private partnerships for their athletic departments and have the teams be Semi professional?

4. Should colleges spin-off their athletic departments as separate for-profit entities?

5. And what about Naomi?

Sharing this now, even though it's from 3 or 4 months ago - maybe longer??? Anyway, the way Joel Berry talks about the team that we had at that time, I'm sorta glad to see most of them gone. If Joel Berry is accurate with his description of that version of the Carolina Basketball team (and he was, because we all saw it play out most of last season) then we simply didn't have enough dawgs and there wasn't enough grit and "want to". Was there some talent? Sure. But not enough "want to". Unfortunately that's been the case more often than not, save for a couple of seasons, even going back to the last 2-3 years of Roy's teams.

So, if we take a step back talent-wise, but two steps forward with grit and "want to" with this new portal group (BTW I think Seth is one of the few guys on last year's team that has/had the grit) then I think Joel Berry and I will be just fine, thank you.
