This is from The Coalition For Carolina

"We recently wrote about the intense debate going on surrounding the future home of Tar Heel basketball. Discussions about the Smith Center’s future are ongoing, and due to the deep interest in the issue from the Tar Heel community, we wanted to share a couple recent podcasts about the topic that we found informative.

WCHL hosted Rusty Carter, a spokesperson for the pro-renovation Committee for a South Campus Arena, to discuss why keeping the Smith Center at its current location on South Campus is so important to his committee and the 37,000+ supporters who have signed their petition. You can listen to the full interview with Mr. Carter here.

UNC’s administration is viewed as favoring a Carolina North venue and is sponsoring its own podcast series called “The Arena Discussion.” The special edition segment is part of the “Carolina Insider” podcast hosted by Jones Angell and Adam Lucas and will be released regularly on Wednesdays. You can listen to the first episode here, which features Chancellor Lee Roberts and Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham.

We hope you find both interviews to be informative as the arena decision-making process continues."

New article out by The Athletic that includes details about what led to the pause on the Carolina North development and building of a new off-campus basketball arena.

Key in the pushback was: "91 influential donors and former players — including James Worthy, Billy Cunningham, Ty Lawson, George Lynch, Mitch Kupchak, Luke Maye and more — wrote a letter to Roberts saying they did “not support the move of the Smith Center and our historic Carolina’s Men’s Basketball program off campus, specifically to Carolina North.”

Roy and Hans have also been outspoken about keeping the arena on campus.

We have two related and overlapping threads (one is portal specific sorta). Which is fine. Just noting.
