I had typed a long response but erased it as I realized it was pointless. I refuse to accept, because I know better, that irrevocable harm is done. It might be for the fringe, and this board is definitely on the fringe, but it isn't for those who understand what role social media is playing and refuse to allow themselves to be manipulated by it. It isn't trump that is doing irrevocable harm. He isn't influential or important enough and a pimple compared to the cancer that social media is.

Every single policy that Trump and his ilk propose, every single thing that they do as our political leaders, is a function of who they are. If you find yourself agreeing with his policies, that necessarily means that you aren't all that different from him personally, no matter how much you might protest or try to pretend otherwise. If that offends you, take a look inwards. Don't try to convince us that there's a meaningful difference between you and the people you support, however distastefully you want to act like it is.

I don't know what a “Mamdani Democrat” is, and have no idea what the hell a “MS Now” is, but I do know that you’re an alcoholic, overweight, doughy, complete failure of a human being who spends his days being a gopher boy paper pusher at a felon’s law firm, and surely at some point in your life you had more pride than being this unprincipled shitposter on an internet message board trying to get a rise out of liberals because everyone in your family long ago stopped giving a damn about you!

Yet this administration is trying to rewrite history. They are removing, or trying to remove, the suffering and prejudice that happened in this country for centuries from being referenced. They are trying to recast January 6 as patriotic. To me, they are attempting irrevocable harm by altering the truth of history. Perhaps you see that as insignificant. Some of us see that extremely harmful.

Another thing: the concept of assimilation has long been tied to antisemitism. For centuries, discrimination against Jewish people was at least partly based on their unwillingness to assimilate to the dominant religion, to the dominant language, to the dominant whatever.
