The post you were responding to did not say anything disrespectful about Hubert. It simply said he did not perform up to the standards of the UNC program. Expressing that sentiment does not Somehow put someone at odds with Dean.

He was referring to previous posts celebrating the demise of on of Dean's disciples.

They just fired him.
Yes, after days of discussions and HD’s apparent unwillingness to handle the dismissal gracefully. If they were trying to shortchange him financially then I understand why he chose this route and don’t blame him. If they offered to let him resign while fulfilling the financial obligations of his contract then HD’s decision to make them fire him doesn’t serve anyone’s best interests, including his.

So it will be interesting to see who we can get in the coaching transfer portal. Based upon our expectations, we should not agree to anything more than a 3 or 4 year contract.
From Dan Wolken of Yahoo Sports:

“North Carolina is doing exactly what it should do: Pulling the plug on a coach who wasn't good enough for the standard it expects and going into the marketplace to see who's interested. The answer Carolina is likely to find? Almost everyone.”

Can you quote the parts that led you to that conclusion?
I will freely admit to jumping to conclusions but post game conference where he didn't take any responsibility + refusal to talk to his assistants and the team afterward makes me think he saw that the fault for his situation lay with others.

Again this is just my speculation and has no impact on what transpired. I am more than happy to be wrong. I have no dog in this fight.

I'm sure there will be oodles of coaches interested to make a leap from assistant coach or a head coach from a non P4 program. If we fired CHD just to see who might be interested in coming to UNC ? I hope that is not the case.

I would hope they have already nailed down a deal with a homerun hire which will be announced no later than next week so that homerun hire can start reeling in 5star recruits and high quality transfers to rebuild the program for next year.

So Hubert was treated poorly despite being given five years to right the ship, yet the new guy will be given zero time for program building and culture change? He has to excel in year one or it’s all a mistake?

Seems a little extreme, especially if their top choice is still coaching in the Final Four next week.

You're saying he refused to speak to the players and assistant after the game. Do you not think he spoke to them in the locker room or at any point before he left the arena?

They also took a huge chance on him and gave him the keys to one of the top programs in the country.
You're nit picking the words of a man who just lost his dream job and was dumped by a place he revered. He got fired. Is that not enough?

You hope they already nailed down a deal with a home run hire? Huh? Most of the "home run hires" are actively working other jobs right now, including having their teams still playing in the tournament. That is an exceptionally unrealistic expectation.

as I said - i have no dog in this fight and i was just speculating.

if you want to have a debate just know I will save us all time and instantly concede all points to you on any point you want to make.

I don't have the time, energy, or desire to get into an internet throwdown over something I have no first hand knowledge of, nor any impact on, especially since it is already in the past. Again i freely admit I was speculating with limited public information. My opinion isn't worth the spit it is written on. If you want to declare internet victory on this point, that is fine with me. I don't have any invested interest in any of this.

This whole coaching situation is the drama of my chosen form of entertainment playing out before us with partial info, leaving people like me to guess to fill in the blanks. No one is expected to get it all right and in the end my being 2% correct or 98% correct means nothing.

You gotta forgive heelinhell, he's been day drinking for almost 2 hours now.

Apparently UNC’s admins created some confusion last week and kinda gave Hubert the impression his job was safe even after the donors had pulled their support and the situation had passed the point of no return.

Poor look on Bubba if true, but also not very surprising with how we’ve handle these situations lately.

I don't want to argue about anything. I'm
curious why people are jumping to the conclusion that Hubert ghosted his team based on that article.

My take is more that he didn't handle the loss well and was taking a little time for himself at precisely the worst time.

The question for me...is that because he knew his chair had gotten a whole lot hotter and he wanted to have a bit of time to prepare or was it he was blind to the fact that his chair was now blazing hot and he thought it was business as usual before after-season meetings came?

But, like you, I'm filling in the holes in what we know with assumptions and I'd love to know the real answers. (Poor Mption. :()

Because it says he didn't communicate with his coaches for nearly 24 hours after leaving the arena in Greenville.
