I've been on the fence about HD and haven't wanted to stake out a position because I don't know very much. But I can now see that HD won't survive this. So it's best to cut ties immediately. Even if it wasn't HD's fault, even if the critics are wrong -- it doesn't matter because the narrative is completely set. The concrete is dry and there is nothing more to be written in the minds of the fan base. He will not have the support of enough of the fans to be successful.

I don't think I'm being hypocritical or full of shit. I think I'm trying to assess the situation to the best of my ability.

No exaggeration. Bigs was never on the fence. Anyone who ever questioned any decision by HD was met with all kinds of accusations - from not being a fan to having a hatred of HD, to all kinds of other shit. You've never been to the level of Bigs with his shit.

Between the freak injury to Caleb which ended hopes of a great season and last night's debacle conditions now seem to be in a place where not bringing him back is a lot more palatable.

No, you said that you 100% supported HD and would continue doing so since he was the coach of UNC. You gave everyone of us who ever questioned if he was the right fit all kinds of bullshit. Like I said, you were either full of shit then or you are full of shit now.

And NCAA enforcement seems to be a relic of the past now that we can buy players . What would constitute an NCAA violation by a coach today ?

I don't want the inverse of HD.

I want a coach who can win on the court and represent the University and the program well off of it.

HD largely did well at the latter while, unfortunately, not quite doing well enough at the former.

But that doesn't mean we let go of either priority.

he definitely defended HD very staunchly and consistently and i agree with you that sometimes it was overboard. lots of people were "bad fans" for leveling various critiques, plenty of them fair. and you two were regularly at each other's throats.

it seems that Bigs now recognizes that the writing is on the wall with regard to HD. you were right and he was wrong, take the W.

He deserves it after being such an asshole about it ...it's why he was known as the ZZL wet blanket for so long. With that said he has been much calmer lately....more like a damp blanket

Celebrating the fall of a UNC icon is a pretty hollow gloat.

My main point was always that firing Hubert was not a slam dunk decision and that firing him given his performance was iffy.

The circumstances have changed in a way that makes it easier now.

Hopefully UNC can nail the hire otherwise we're back here in a few years.

All of this just makes me so sad.

What a waste of having a talent like Caleb. We just can't seem to assemble a fully capable team. Either no bigs and small guards, or great bigs and no real pg.

I have supported HD and will keep doing so as long as he is our coach. But I also will criticize him and the staff when it is appropriate.

The whiff on pg this year (buying Evans as a pg, even though he was not a pg at Colorado st) was inexcusable.

And HD post-game yesterday was atrocious. Gives me zero confidence when HD stated he did not think fatigue was a factor. Seth admitted it was, and Phil Jr. also stated he recognized we were coming up short on shots due to tired legs.

When the opposing coach can plainly see our issue and exploits it, and then the fact our coach is still apparently unaware that was a major factor in the game is totally absurd.
 
I would like all of the HD stans to sit out the new coach discussion, can't tell you how many times I've been slammed over the past season for pointing out the obvious (that Hubert is simply not a good coach and not up to the job). Posters who were telling us on Wednesday what a great coach he is, now giving advice on who our next coach should be, is akin to Trump voters talking about who the next President should be. Sit one out, please.
