Hubert Davis Catch-all

I would very much hope that the admin is looking at who we could get as a replacement before making any move.

While it is assumed we can get a hire we want, we still need to make sure the funding is available for it and get some positive feedback from the agents for the desired coach or coaches on our list

it makes no sense because it likely isn't true OR as super said is a really simplistic, context-free snippet of some of the process.

UNC: "HD, we've got to make a change...."
HD: "i want to keep coaching...."
UNC: "well, that isn't happening here. lets talk your resignation and buyout..."

and now seth davis' peanut gallery dwelling ass chips in with "HD still wants the job" like it's hot, breaking news.
 
Seems like it’s all just speculation at this point.
Has Hubert or anyone from UNC said anything? Anything at all?
I heard something about end-of -year player meetings were cancelled or postponed. Were they really or is that just rumor? Has any “official” word come down from anybody in authority anywhere? About anything regarding Men’s basketball at Carolina?
Loads of speculation… some letters from Larry Brown… talking heads on DSPN.
Have any current players gone on record saying they’re entering the portal? Going pro early? Announcing they’ll be back?
Why can’t this be true: Nobody from UNC athletics dept. has said anything to anybody. Not even to Hubert, nor Hubert to them. Why can’t it be true that the season ended, Hubert has no plans other than staying and UNC has no plans to replace him AND neither party sees any reason to say anything about anything otherwise. If that’s the case, no wonder we haven’t heard anything official. There’s no there there.

Having said that, I personally don’t believe any of that… Hubert’s seat has been hot for a couple of years now, and now there’s a lot of smoke.

I speculated two things over two months ago and posted them here.
A) Hubert is done this year unless he wins it all, or at least makes FF.
B) They will build a new arena

Only time will tell if one or both materialize

It would all be directly contrary to a lot of very specific IC reporting, if nothing else. I've never known IC to publish info that is just completely made up.

Given all of the rumors swirling, if HD was for sure coming back the AD would have already released a statement.

Silence essentially means a process is happening. We can pretty easily guess that process is one that ends with HD resigning and UNC hiring a new CBB coach.

What, exactly, is causing the current hold up on making a public announcement is anyone's guess.

I heard somewhere, and have absolutely no idea if there is the first word of truth in this, that the supposed two million to Evans was a two year deal. What that means in terms of anything, I don't know but thought I'd bring that up if it rang a bell for someone.
 
Evans can be a decent player for us. He was just playing without any confidence at all this season. He needs a reset for sure, but the situation isn't hopeless I think. Hopefully the new coach can find a way to restore his confidence

Pete Nakos said that admin know this would turn into a power struggle if it were to go on for long. I don't think IC is hinting at a power struggle, but I could have missed some posts.

Edit: Shit, nevermind, I just saw Ben's post. Maybe he just felt the need to point out the last part of Nakos's post, but that would be odd.

Exactly. The lack of a vote of confidence from the AD speaks volumes.

I feel that way about Evans too - I think he would fit well playing next to Dixon and Mingo - but he would have to take a huge pay cut to stay, so I'm just not sure I see it.
