Not sure how supporting Hubert Davis is more "dramatic" than ripping him.

You seem to fall silent on that side of the drama.

The anti-Hubert folks are a sensitive group.

Again, crazy to think that supporting the coach is something that has to be defended on a UNC BOARD.

Maybe, just maybe, I'm not the one delivering the garbage.

As you know, I'm pretty much more on your side than theirs but I don't get the "take no prisoners" approach by either side. We have to keep in mind that it's possible that Hubert ends up not fitting the bill. If we can accept that, maybe the idea of not rushing and acknowledging some things have seriously improved to the point that between that and the unsettled nature of where the game is heading makes wait and see a better policy for now. It sure would make it more fun to not fight so much over this all the damned time. We are all fans, after all. The differing times that we came to fandom reflect our different attitudes to what we value the most so we're going continue to see changes we don't like as the game continues to change. (Course, they are, too, as they turn into old farts).

Can you imagine 1970 refs calling a modern game?

This is all good and well, but given those circumstances it seems to me that supporting the coaches is the obvious default mode.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I won't change my position until he's gone or he's clearly failing.

Hubert is probably about 90% of the way to meeting expectations. That's just too close for me to want him gone, especially considering who he is and the history he has with the university.

If I'm going to be "garbage" or "insufferable" or whatever derogatory descriptions others want to put on me I'm going to do it on the side of Hubert Davis.

And for the record, I'm not giving BB the same devotion.

This is why you're one of the most annoying fucking posters on this board and, before that, on all of IC.

For most folks, supporting HD or wanting him replaced comes from a place of genuinely wanting the best for the team/program. Folks can certainly have differing opinions on whether or not keeping HD as the HC of Carolina Basketball is the right move, but nearly all of us simply want what is best for the program.

You, however, are more concerned about "striking the right nerve" against your perceived opponents.

That difference is why your hypocrisy is much, much greater than pretty much anyone else's and why you are an embarrassment as a supposed Carolina fan (whom, I believe, has no real connection to the University).

Nope. Bill Belichick is not Hubert Davis. If Hubert went 10-20 and embarrassed the university I would not be defending him.

I have not called out a single person. Everyone says they want Hubert to succeed. I do, too, because he only succeeds if the team does..I genuinely see Hubert getting better at his job, which was the point I was trying to make. This is a big step for cooling his hot seat. I hope the immediate benefit is Mingo announcing.

You aren't the final authority on anything. You passing judgement means nothing.

Going after someone who supports the coach is not noble especially given that you've already written Hubert off.

As for "striking a nerve" my point is that if I piss people off to the point that they are hurling personal insults at me because I'm supporting the coach, well these are the type of people I'm not concerned about offending because they seem like assholes to me.

I don’t think you understand the point. You are, admittedly, blindly supporting HD even if it’s to the detriment of the program. You are putting HD over the program. Us “HD haters” want what’s best for the program, we’re putting that first.
 
I want coach to succeed Because he is a Carolina guy (Obviously I want the team to succeed)
Whenever it is , our next coach will be here just because they want to be part of Carolina basketball and make a lot of money
Hubert is a second generation Carolina guy (Uncle Walter). Its corny and maybe not relevant-but it is a big part of my fandom. My basketball fandom started when I would see a bigger than life Billy Cunningham, with his St Christopher, take communion at our family church........

I can respect this opinion and don't have much to say against it.

I do hope that when HD is no longer our coach - whether that's a couple of months or a couple of decades from now - that Carolina fans can rally around him as a former player and for his contributions to the program.
 
Taking every critique personally regarding coaches and being a raging dickhead to fellow UNC fans for no reason other than personal investment is why I do not post on Carolina Baseball message boards any longer. I am absolutely an expert in recognizing that behavior pattern.

They care way more about thought policing the message board and brow beating everyone into having the same bland Pollyanna opinions than they do about the actual results or celebrating the wins.

I haven’t participated in the original topic of this thread and haven’t even said anything critical of the big picture coaching situation at all on here since the season started, and I’m still getting chastised for being too silent about it lol. They’re incapable of having any semblance of good faith discussion. It’s absurdly obnoxious.
