It doesn't really matter. We aren't going anywhere without Caleb. Suppose we had won three of those games. Great, maybe we get a 5 seed and then lose first round.

Ironically had we won the Miami game it probably does guarantee Davis' return. People would have pointed to the momentum and the dook win. Now it's just more of the same inconsistency that has people fed up. Shows what a tightrope he is walking this year.

He took over a very troubled Cincy program in 2022 and has had a 60% winning record in the Big 12 conference. At this point he may be on the hot seat even though Cincy has had a mediocre record years before.

In his seasons at Cincy coaching in a tough conference at a mediocre program with mediocre talent he has been pretty competitive. I would have enjoyed seeing how he might have done as the coach of a blueblood program with superior talent.

So I would include Wes( 43 yo ) as a coach to be included on your excellent coaches list.

Wes Miller is absolutely getting fired after this season. He should absolutely not be included on any potential UNc hire list.

Well, let's see what he can do without Caleb. There is still talent on the team. Obviously, this makes us smaller, so Hubert will need to figure out a new offense.

But if we can stay above the bubble line, and Caleb can make it back it March, there is still hope for a tournament run.
 
I’m seeing a lot of fans say this excuse will buy Hubert another year. That logic being if UNC was to lose every game the rest of the season, Hubert would just say well yeah we lost Caleb? And the admin would say you’re right?

Even if heals and gets the ok to return, I have to wonder if he would just shut it down at this point and turn his focus to the draft.

I don't see how this helps Hubert more than hurts him. If they happen to lose 4 out of the next 7 or worse, and lose in the first or second round of the tournament it will look more like it was just Caleb that won the games.

That's what former players and Roy will say
 
Coach Smith said a team can pull together and overcome losing a key player for a while. But eventually, losing that player takes its toll on how the team fares.
This really fucking sucks. We have not had a player like Caleb in a long time. He has been a joy to watch. Hopefully he can come back.
 
I have been agnostic about HD's future, but I am not agnostic about this: the decision needs to be made on the data available. An injury to the star should not buy HD another year. Either he should get it on the merits, or not. Maybe if this was a December thing and Caleb missed half the season, it might be different. But we've seen a lot of season now. Putting off the decision would be bad decision-making.
