I think at the top of the list of attributes for anti Hubert people is didn't go to UNC. I know exceptions on here. And to be further clear I doubt anyone on here is anti Hubert because he is AA.

We’re a 5/6 seed right now and don’t have Caleb for at least the next 5 games and Veesaar probably shouldn’t play either for at least that long given his achilles issue (that’s typically been a 4-6 week issue in the NBA and it would look really awful to rush him back and have him tear his achilles). The Kansas and Duke games were fun, yes, but it does feel lost.

Thankfully, baseball season is here and i will continue to take my kids to that plus lacrosse.

I know you’re just asking that as a clever “gotcha” so you can poke a million holes into any list that gets presented, so I’m not even going to bother.

The UNC job is too stressful because our fans are a bunch of ungrateful malcontents. It’s the equivalent of wanting a busted old dresser left out on the curb and no sane coach would ever consider taking it. Is that better?

No..I am genuinely curious. Who? Lloyd? I think he is a great coach but Arizona is good gig. Oats? His shine has worn off some plus not sure s fit. I mean if you can't offer names because you think I can poke holes in them that tells me alot.

I interact both in-person and on the internet with quite a few dedicated fans, some of whom are alumni, and among them I see a great many who appear, while living and dying with the fortunes of the team during the 3-4 months of the season, also would neither abandon it (and the school) nor bet anything more than $5 with a friend over an outcome. Most of them seem to take the roster as something out of their hands, and while chagrined by the recent changes wrought by the portal and instability of line-ups, still claim the players as Tar Heels during their tenure on campus (and often beyond). These are the folks that you meet in the hallway or store or bar and mention the game coming up and they say things like, "Oh yeah, I've got to make my plans." (In contrast, I put the games on my calendar as soon as they are known and tend to work a good deal of my life schedule around them -- gracias a dios I have a partner who understands completely)
 
The anti Hubert crowd continue to ignore my concern about maga leadership firing an AA coach with Hubert's pedigree and resume. Is that because you don't think it's an issue or too tough a subject?

I'm curious where the standard is for those who still support HD and believe he should remain the HC at Carolina.

If seasons like this one (before the Caleb injury) is the rough average for what we can expect out of HD going forward, understanding that there'd be some variability in which there'd be seasons where we'd be decently better and seasons where we'd be decently worse, is that enough for you to think that HD should keep his job in perpetuity? Or should HD have to show improvement over the coming seasons in order to retain the role after future seasons? In short, what is the on-going average baseline season that you think that HD should be able to produce for him to remain Carolina's HC?

Also, to be clear, I don't think our current season is "mediocre". I think it's a good season (thus far), but not anything better than just "good".

I don't think it's silly to wait until the end of the season to make a decision about how you feel.

I also don't think it's silly to think that we have 4.7 seasons of HD's performance to judge and to have made a decision on how one feels about him.

In short, I'd say that neither view is inherently silly.

Lloyd is the best coach in the game right now for my money, but he is a west coast guy that has a good thing going at Arizona. Don’t see him leaving for any job opening, at least not this offseason.

Nate Oats has done a good job at Alabama in the sense that he has produced results well above their historical norm (and he was doing it there before NIL/transfer portal), but I personally wouldn’t consider him a good candidate for UNC. Things like not taking a firmer stance with the Brandon Miller situation and this latest stunt trying to push the eligibility rules well beyond the envelope seem like a pattern for him, plus I hate his scheme.

Like I said though, you’re right. UNC is not a desirable job and I can’t think of any noteworthy coach that would be interested in it.

I’m talking about non-UNC fans. I don’t typically bet on UNC except as emotionally hedging. I am far too wrapped up in it to be analytical about it. UNC basketball was the reason i went to UNC so I completely get you and it’s how i’ve been about it for the majority of my time.

I think it's a completely overblown "issue" that is only raised by those who have a vested interest in keeping HD as HC.

That's not to say that it won't be raised in some quarters and that absolutely no one will make an "issue" of it, but I think it will be a very small number of folks who take that tack and it won't be a mainstream issue if HD is let go.
 
After the disasterous west coast trip... and yes, it was a disaster... we reeled off 5 straight wins, including @UVA and dook. In an expected trap road game against a good (but not great) Miami, we were in it to the last minute with the entirety of our front court playing severerly injured. Heck, even though Pitt is only a top 100ish kind of team, we beat them start to finish with a starting center who half our fan base throws a fit every time he stands up off the bench... plus a 3 man playing the 4. There is/ was reason to believe this team has turned a corner.

I don't want to put too much on one game, but I think how we play tomorrow vs State will tell us a lot. IMO there is still a chance we can finish the regular season 5-2, even without Caleb, if we continue playing as we have been in Feb.

From reading your posts on IC for a long time (and, of course, here for a much shorter time), I'd guess you're a pretty good dad, at a minimum.

Which is one of the best things that can be said about any man.

Well if you can't or are unwilling to make one, then I guess my point is made. If course we are desirable. But who wants to follow an AA coach who.is am alumnus, anointed by Roy and averages 25 wins a year?

Ok. Thanks for response. As always it would depend on other variables, including what else is in news. I think it could get ugly.
