Guys, we can’t blame ICE when a legal resident shows up to court to renew their green card only to have it taken away and then arrested by ICE and thrown into a detention center rife with human rights issues.
It’s all just one big silly mistake. Oopsies!
Oh you can blame ice for the random cases that fall through the cracks that will eventually get fixed and those are unfortunate. But you can't bring yourself to thank ice for getting thousands upon thousands of murderers and rapists, and child molesters out of this country. So that makes you a hypocrite and someone who cares more about a green card holder than the people who have had family members murdered by people your party invited in. You should be deeply regretful for supporting the biden / harris border policy. But, you aren't. Such misplaced priorities and devoid of sympathy for those you played a part in their deaths.

So ICE wasn't doing this under Biden, regardless of if you or anyone else was thanking them or not?

Yes ice was doing that under biden. What's your point? Biden restricted what ice could do and based on the mass influx that he invited, ice was quickly overwhelmed resulting in hundreds of thousands of criminals coming in. I'm sure you know that though.

Exactly what restrictions was ICE under, while they were deporting tens of thousands per year with criminal convictions?

Do you have a link to Biden's "invitation"? I must have missed that.

Hundreds of thousands of criminals coming in? Do you have any data backing that up?

If THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of violent criminals were sneaking into the US each year during the Biden Administration, why hasn’t the violent crime rate increased dramatically?

The violent crime rate has been under 400 per 100,000 residents since about 2010. In the early ‘90’s it had peaked at 750-800 per 100,000 residents.

So you like the idea that trump is fixing the immigration shit show he inherited but don’t like the sometimes inevitable and unfortunate pain that comes along with having to roundup approx. 10 to 15 million people that are running from, hiding from, and assaulting the people tasked with restoring integrity and security to our borders? On a macro level, ICE aren’t the bad guys here. That would be the democratic politicians who premeditatedly encouraged it and facilitated the disaster.
GTFO - border control has been a problem since the 90's. It's great that we're doing something to ensure better documentation of our immigration-dependent workforce but don't pretend the problem was due to dems while ignoring a) everything Repub congress/pres have done and b) global economic drivers which are the real incentive for border-crossers.

As for unfortunate pain, there are humane ways to do things, and there is performative theatre. Perhaps the performative theatre is intentional... but it isn't humane and this isn't "war" where unfortunate/inevitable pain is something that is supposed to be acceptable.

The “thousands upon thousands of murderers and rapists, and child molesters” really clean up their act once they get here.

“During a recent nationwide gang surge, ICE arrested over 1,780 individuals, with 1,472 identified as gang members, associates, or those facing criminal charges. Approximately 35% of those arrested had violent criminal histories, and 16 were identified as gang leaders, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Additionally, a separate operation focusing on MS-13 and 18th Street gangs resulted in 274 MS-13 arrests and 15 arrests related to the 18th Street gang.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Gang Surge Arrests: 1,785 individuals arrested, with 1,472 identified as gang-related.

  • Violent Criminal Histories: Nearly 35% of those arrested had prior violent criminal records.

  • Gang Leaders: 16 individuals arrested were identified as gang leaders.

  • Criminal Charges: ICE also arrested individuals on charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and drug/firearms violations.

  • Operation Matador: Targeting MS-13 and other gangs, this operation resulted in 274 MS-13 arrests and 15 arrests associated with the 18th Street gang, according to ICE.

  • Criminal Records: Some gang members arrested had prior criminal histories, including assault
You stopped responding here, which was probably smart, but my question above about what the change in the percentage of arrested individuals being actual criminals is actually a result of the article you posted being from October of 2009.

But I'm sure you knew that.

John Oliver slams Dean Cain for joining ICE:

“You know, there’s an old saying in Hollywood: if all you can get is Dean Cain, you are f*cked.”

“I’m not saying that ICE isn’t finding people. I’m just saying, when you are reduced to pinning a badge on the 59-year-old star of ‘The Dog Who Saved Christmas,’ ‘The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation,’ ‘The Dog Who Saved Holidays,’ ‘The Dog Who Saved Halloween,’ ‘The Dog Who Saved Easter’ and ‘The Dog Who Saved Summer,’ maybe you are in trouble... On the plus side, no need for that guy to wear a mask because the chances of anyone recognizing him are f*cking zero."

“Take a teenager with more testosterone than wisdom, arm them with guns and masks, fast cars and—to top it off—dangle cash incentives for indiscriminate and speedy arrests,” she said. “Mix in an ICE culture of impunity and overreach. Now, what could go wrong?”

And there’s precedent for a move like this creating problems. Deb Fleishaker, who served more than a dozen years at DHS, told me that in previous cases when standards were relaxed and hiring spiked, corruption among Customs and Border Patrol agents went through the roof. One study found that arrests of CBP employees rose 44 percent from 2007 to 2012. A New York Times investigation found that over a ten-year period, CBP employees and contractors took $15 million in bribes.

“We’ve seen with DHS when they’ve reduced hiring requirements it’s gone very badly,” Fleishaker said. “I think standards and training are hugely important to doing the job appropriately and carefully. This is further evidence that the Department cares about the numbers of bodies and numbers of arrests, without counterbalancing what the impact of those bodies and arrests will be.”
