Xinis implemented the 72-hour notice requirement assuming this would happen to give time to get a stay in Maryland. So an emergency hearing for a Federal judge should happen this weekend.

“… In July the U.S. deported five individuals from Vietnam, Jamaica, Laos, Cuba and Yemen to the Southern African country. All were convicted felons, and Eswatini says it is holding them in solitary confinement until they can be repatriated.

… Eswatini, an absolute monarchy ruled by King Mswati III, has previously said the deportees pose no threat and that the agreement was based purely on its good relations with Washington….”

This is so fucked

If the next Democrat president, whomever and whenever that may be, doesn’t immediately disband ICE and put every jackboot scumbag thug that worked for them on the street, they’ll lose my vote four years later.
If disbanding ICE and DHS isnt the #1 campaign issue for a Democrat at the national level, im not supporting them. That includes Roy Cooper.

I remember when the Department of Homeland Security moniker was created. I always hated the name. It sounded like something Hitler would have come up with. "Domestic Security" would have been more descriptive and less Nazified. Oh well, the name now fits the current version of the agency.

There won't be elections in 2028 at this pace. But I won't vote at all for a candidate who isn't hellbent on undoing this monstrosity.
So if JD Vance beats Gavin Newsom (blech) by one vote in NC in 2028, you can celebrate the doubling of ICE's budget in 2029. You and the Dearborn, MI Arabs can swap stories about the benefits of protest votes.

Prosecutorial legal ethics is waaaaay out of my lane but this doesn’t square with my admittedly vague concept.

I just heard about this today. If this is what it appears to be, I hope he sues that fuck out of the government and takes them for millions.

God I hate that this doughy fuck is my representative. Hasn’t done a goddamn thing for North Carolina but happy to ride the coattails of Alligator Alcatraz notoriety (and likely give more to private prison companies in the process):

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Addison McDowell (NC-06) introduced the Accelerated Logistics and Coordination for Arresting, Transporting, and Removing

Aliens Zones (ALCATRAZ) Act
,
legislation to support state-run detention facilities for illegal aliens by redirecting wasteful Biden-era spending.

“Alligator Alcatraz has provided a model for quickly and efficiently opening new detention facilities to temporarily house illegal aliens before deportation. Instead of housing illegals in swanky hotels, it’s time to expand on this model and disincentivize what has been seen as a free ride,” said Congressman McDowell. “Through the ALCATRAZ Act, we will rapidly expand our available bed space for illegal aliens and facilitate their swift deportations. We could even see the creation of a Tar Heel Tank right here in North Carolina.”

What the ALCATRAZ Act Does:

  • Creates a Detention and Logistics Programat DHS to reimburse state and local governments for their efforts to build and operate new migrant detention facilities.
  • Transfers the remaining funds of the Shelter and Services Program to the new Detention and Logistics Program.
  • Requires DHS to submit to Congress a plan for working with states to open new migrant detention facilities.
  • Requires DHS to identify a list of underutilized, wasteful, or redundant accounts whose funds could be better utilized by the Detention and Logistics Program.

Seems like a lot of resources being used to go after one man, Abrego-Garcia. It also seems like this is purely to get a win in the public sphere. Where does this fall in the waste, fraud, and abuse and common sense arguments magats love to trot out?
