Im a young dumb kid with just a HS education who is navigating all this political turmoil with what I think is an openmind free from much persuasion as a younger kid. No one in my family is political which might be a good thing for me in the long run. The next election will be my first as a legal of age voter so Im excited about it.

I feel I have a unique and personal take on the immigration issues because they are my neighbors, my co-workers and, most importantly, my friends here in Siler City. There is a large population of legals and illegals. I can state without a doubt that no legals I know and hang with are afraid of the possibility they might get caught up in all this mess by mistake. They love it here and accept that it's just part of the deal for the privilege to be here. It's not like enforcement is a new thing. Its happened plenty of times in the past around here. It was local news, but doubt it was national news like it is now. The illegals, on the other hand, you better bet your ass they are.

Sorry for the long ass post, homies lol. I'll state again anyone who is tempting their fate seeking out and engaging with any type of badge and gun carrying enforcement bullies aren't very bright knowing what I know.

My daughter in law is a med tech. She works Friday, Saturday and Sunday. She leaves at 6 AM and gets back at 7:30 PM.

I really agree with this. For decades the right-wing has demanded an expansive interpretation of the 2nd Amendment as a protection against governmental overreach. And now that government overeach is actually happening, the right-wing interpretation of the 2nd Amendment has shifted to, "Guns for me, but none for thee."

We have a good family friend who is a critical care flight nurse. She usually works 2-4 12 hour shifts a week. If she has to fly out on a call after being in her shift for 11.75 hours, those shifts turn into 15-18 hours or more.

I have a family member who is a nearly retired nurse. She started her career in the icu for about 10 years. She worked 3 12 hr shifts per week and would often pick up an extra shift. That was before a kid. By the time she was mid 30s she was morally, physically, and emotionally burnt out. The amount of awkward lifting, pushing, and pulling screwed up her back. The amount of times she was physically and verbally assaulted was countless.

She switched to regular cancer and trauma floors and was able to get 4 8 hr shifts as a veteran nurse. The hospital did not want to give it to her but they were facing a catastrophic loss of workforce from burnout so they chose flexibility. Most folks I know think healthcare is full of people making a bunch of money and getting four days off a week. Some very well positioned specialists can live that life but speaking to nurses a lot of them make solid money while completely exhausting themselves morally, emotionally, and physically all at the service of others. Not to mention carrying thousands of terrible second and first hand stories around in their minds.

Many have said a huge resolution to the immigration/documentation problem is staffing for sake of processing the giant backlogs and queues of people. Get ideal processing timing, then you don't "lose" anyone awaiting hearings. So here we are back to square 1.
