IEDs thrown at anti-Islam/ anti-Mandami rally @ Gracie Mansion

Lang’s group were protesting outside of Gracie Mansion NOT actively interfering with federal agents conducting immigration detentions. Larger issue is that NYC mayor won’t name Islamist violence and his wife likely supports it - if you look at her social media accounts. V
Who is Lang and what is his ‘group?’

The media describes Jake Lang as a "far right" agitator who is identified with white supremacists groups. He led the rally objecting to the "Islamification of NYC."

I don't think he's the actual head of any group.

He's the Antifa of the Right. Remember how their leaders and organizations were opaque to scrutiny or identification as well.

Jake Lang was the guy who got bullied out of Minneapolis and started crying when he got piss thrown at him, right? Just for clarification.

Seem like a nice guy though-

Lang was seen on camera at a Jan. 6 fifth-anniversary event this year, telling Metropolitan Police Cmdr. Jason Bagshaw that he should be “put down like a dead dog” and "hung" in front of the Capitol.

He’s also the guy that made the news for his performance at a Dearborn City council meeting last year.

And the one who posted a video of himself kicking over the ANTI-ICE ice sculpture in Minneapolis.

So he is a white supremacist. I see that he is also a republican candidate for the US Senate in Florida. He was also a participant in the attempted coup of January 6 but given clemency by trump.

Thanks for your input.

“… After they were arrested, both men made statements referring to ISIS, the complaint says. Mr. Balat said that they “wanted to carry out an attack bigger than the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, which Balat noted, caused only ‘three deaths,’” according to the complaint. New York officials have also referred to Mr. Kayumi as Mr. Nikk.

Mr. Balat also wrote on a piece a paper that he pledged allegiance “to the Islamic State,” the complaint says. And it adds that Mr. Kayumi told police that he had watched ISIS propaganda on his phone “and was partly inspired to carry out his actions that day by ISIS.”…”

What are you talking about? The mayor issued a compelling statement after the attack. First paragraph: the Islamophobia from the Trumpers is unacceptable. Second paragraph: the violence directed at them is even more unacceptable. Third paragraph, we should all live in peace.

I'm not a big fan of his but that was a great statement, very statesmanlike.

Of course you're trying to fit him into your stereotypes so you ignore all evidence

Wondering whether they were Mirandized. They would have been on the hook for maybe a state-level aggravated assault charge; then they opened their mouths and talked themselves into life in federal prison.

Pieces of shit.

Talk about ignoring the evidence, the media did everything possible to try and confuse the public as evidenced by at least two intelligent posters here thinking it was Lang's group that hurled the bombs. Reports were that bombs were "found" (implying they belonged to Lang's group) at the scene when they were , in fact, hurled by the Islamists at Lang.

The Mayor said in his statement:

"Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city's values and the unity that defines who we are."

"What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the anthesis of who we are."

The statement doesn't actually state what really happened - that the counter protesters were responsible for the bombs. This likely led to New Yorker's being confused about the culprits. Notice how the mayor calls out Lang by name and says that his protest is bigoted and racist but doesn't call out Kayumi and Balat by name or their religious ideology which fueled their violence.

Who was the other one besides Zen and why are you calling him intelligent? Link?

1. If you weren't such a dipshit, you'd know that it's SOP for a mayor NOT to potentially poison the jury pool against a criminal defendant. So he should not have named them if he wanted to make the point that the violence was real.

Plus, their ISIS ties were established during the interrogation. It is unclear if the mayor knew that at the time of his first statement (doubtful that he did).

2. I didn't have any trouble following the logic. What followed = not part of the protest. Violence *at* a protest implies something brought in from outside.

It's true that he could have been clearer. But he was very clear today, when he and the NYPD held a press conference describing it as ISIS related violence.

3. Again, you hold liberals to a completely different standard. I mean, you yourself won't even acknowledge the white supremacy problem in your party. You were earlier contesting that Jake Lang was a white supremacist.

If you want rank racism, check out that FIU Republican chat.
