In re Trump wins: If St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago wins, retains a majority in the House, and regains control of the Senate . . . then the US will head straight down the drain. And whose fault will it be, not St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago, blessed be his name. It will be the collective faults of brown and black peoples, those in other countries who the "Moral Majority" believe have been sucking off the USA's teet for too long, and most of all by people like those who post on this board. Make no mistake, in post-Democracy Trump America, the political leadership will be coming after us by means judicial and extra-judicial. We will be the active sabatours who are frustrating and preventing St. Donald's Golden Tomorrow. As long as one of us is alive and not imprisoned, we will be the reason the Golden Dawn of Trump's America has not yet arrived.
If Trump wins the election, the GOP will almost certainly take both House and Senate. Senate will probably go GOP even if Kamala wins.Regardless of the Presidential outcome, I'm hoping for at least one opposing party majority in either or both of the House or the Senate. Both Presidential candidates have proposed some dumb policies and we need for the separation of powers to save us from flawed campaign promises.
If Trump wins I don’t see any realistic scenario where the House (gerrymandered all to hell) or senate are Dem-controlled.Regardless of the Presidential outcome, I'm hoping for at least one opposing party majority in either or both of the House or the Senate. Both Presidential candidates have proposed some dumb policies and we need for the separation of powers to save us from flawed campaign promises.
ExplainMy employer is thoroughly in Trump’s crosshairs, so if he wins I’m going to try to find a new job by inauguration.
I sure hope y'all are right but I just don't see it not being close no matter who wins.Agree with you. He ain't winning, and it ain't gonna be close.
Had to look at the author to see if I had already responded to this thread. My situation is very similar.I’ve thought about this quite a bit in the last year or so…even before Biden dropped out when he was polling poorly.
My wife and I have the resources to sell our house tomorrow and live comfortably outside the US, but I don’t want to do that for several reasons.
1. This is home and I’d rather not leave
2. Our kids are entering adulthood, this is the only life they’ve ever known and I don’t want to be far away from them
3. I could totally see a Trump Admin implementing a vindictive policy to make it illegal for for those who leave, to return in the future, even after he’s long gone
Reality is I’m a straight white male, so his Admin’s wrath won’t be directed towards me, at least initially. I’ll feel bad for those it does affect…at least those who are voting age and voted for Harris…not the ones who vote Trump against their own interests or don’t vote at all. But at the end of the day I’ll likely stay away from news as much as possible, pray for the day his clock runs out, and hope the damage he does before then doesn’t totally destroy our democracy.
I sure hope you are correct.Agree with you. He ain't winning, and it ain't gonna be close.
May I ask what field the business is in?i'm a woman and a member of the lgbtq community and still relatively young (mid 30s). my parents and i own a small business that we've worked really hard to build for the last couple of decades. one of them is now retired and the other is close and its going to be my business.
if he wins, the future looks pretty frightening and uncertain from my perspective.
but i worried about this a lot more prior to biden dropping out and kamala entering and really changing the calculus. if we get the turnout that we should, she's going to win.
Other than that, how did you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln? It really won’t affect me that much other than crushing what little faith I have left in mankind.
that is very kind, thank youMay I ask what field the business is in?
Is it a service or a store that we could support?
My daughter is gay, she wants to open her own bakery someday.
