Do you think it was fair to ask a poster who is premium member not to post for two weeks but allow a thread during which that poster was called a monster and mentally ill to continue even after a promise it would be locked? That happened. The sabbatical was not because of what I had done as much as the toxic response to it? Liberals were given more leeway in their personal attacks on conservatives. Just were.
Maybe my memory is incorrect, but I recall this incident a bit differently. After you left your job at the paper, you had a sudden shift in posting. You definitely became a lot more confrontational, getting in multi-page fights spanning across multiple threads. The shift was sudden and significant.

It was hard to tell whether we were just finally seeing the real you with the gloves off, no longer handcuffed by your job at the paper. Whether this was a reaction to suddenly no longer doing the job you loved... an outlet for the loss of it. Whether it was related to a clear extrovert suddenly being locked up inside by covid... or what.

The mods were worried about you, as you did not seem to be happy with the new situation. You complained A LOT about how other posters were allowed to treat you. They were worried the board was becoming a toxic place for you, and suggested you take a break and get away from the board for a bit... for your own mental well being.

It sounds like instead, you treated it as an unofficial posting ban, where you continued to read the spiteful crap said by your new sparring partners, but felt you were not allowed to respond. That sounds like about the worst path you could have picked.

What was the opinion?
I enjoyed reading the golf thread mostly because it was a group of people sharing their love of an activity….in many cases an absolute passion for it.

Never did posters go at one another.

Often posters recounted anecdotes about playing with their elderly fathers…..maybe for the last time…….’79 wrote movingly several times about playing with his Dad.

The posters shared their enjoyment of certain courses. It was rare that a poster disparaged a course.

They compared notes on courses and equipment and teaching pro’s and more.

Then LIV happened……then the ultimate “contrarian” (a.k.a., TROLL) joined in….and the thread became too much about yellow jacket.

As a non-golfer and not a huge golf fan, I found the ZZL golf thread often an enjoyable read…….then, Yellowjacket crapped all over it.

In your location, it’s likely needed.

The first half I agree with. The second half not so much. I mean they were worried about my mental health? I actually went back and read the thread that got me urged to take a sabbatical. I really don't want to rehash it here, but I disappear after a few pages and it goes on for 13 with personal attacks after personal attack. My posting style did change and perhaps that alarmed mods but I don't think they were acting out of concern.

I will say that the mods do worry about posters' mental health. We have very limited ability to do anything about it, but we are concerned.

In your situation, you had become locked in a battle to the death with other posters. It had become very personal but wasn't breaking any ZZLP rules. We were very limited in how we can approach the situation from a moderator perspective.

After consulting up the ladder with the PTB, we recommended to you that you take a break from the ZZLP to see if things could calm down, both for you and for those against you.

The time away did lower the temperature for the moment, but it obviously didn't solve any long-term issues between you and others on the board.

I know you find it unfair that folks talked about you after you left, but the CF Rule applies there: "If a poster posts in such a way to make themselves a target across a wide variety of posters on the board, then that is a repercussion of their posting style and the mods stay out of it barring any enforceable rules violations." So, we tried to find another solution that could bring the temperature down for all parties by suggesting you take a break from the board.

It's over. My issue was in was told it would be locked and it wasn't so I was getting attacked but honored the request I take a break.

This is kind of what I saw. Post a dissenting view and there are a lot of people that act like assholes. So to improve the behavior on the board, Snoop removes the person causing all these people to act like assholes instead of removing 10 or 15 people. Seems logical but then you get a bunch of assholes who all agree with each other and when someone new comes on the board with a different opinion, folks have learned what Snoop is going to do.

Ah yes. Truly you are the persecuted one. Everyone else is an asshole, while you are merely a good faith interlocutor seeking truth. Never mind that you endlessly prattle on about topics you know nothing about, refuse to admit that you're wrong basically ever, no matter how evidence is presented, and commonly man- and white-splain in infuriating and offensive ways.

And don't forget that early on in his LIV trolling, gt freely and frequently admitted he was not really much of a golf fan or follower before spouting on and on.

You were told that it would be locked if you agreed to the 2-week sabbatical and you consistently refused to agree to said terms. I quote...

"I agree to nothing. I will do as I please."

So you're incorrect when you say that the mods didn't carry out our part of the agreement as you explicitly refused to make the agreement.

I do remember writing that. But I also quit posting on that thread fur awhile and returned toward the end as insults continued.

So your complaint is that we didn't enforce an agreement you refused to make?

Good talk.

Again, it's amazing when the ones bitching and moaning about the moderating on IC post in any depth, they inevitably end up showing why things on IC went so poorly for them.

I quit posting and on page 11 super chided me for my absence. Y'all allowed personal attacks to continue. I just read through them. Look I don't care. It's history. Let it go. I will

I don't know who has said you were fired. I suppose my words could be interpreted to that effect, but I was trying to be non-committal because obviously I don't know the whole story and even if I did at one point, I have forgotten. Thus, "lost your position" seems like a pretty neutral and factual description of what happened. If it connotes being fired, then I can say I didn't mean that at all.
Just an observation, you seem to pick and choose which words you take exactly as defined and which words you use a working definition of. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it will continue to lead to misunderstandings.
