LOL at Iran has agreed not to close the strait ever again.

Yeah, Trump you agreed not to put tariffs on Canada or Mexico, even signing a treaty to that effect. How well did that work?

Well, get ready to lose the farm! I think you overestimate the concern Iran has for its economy. They seemed to have come thru the economic hurt of Covid just fine. They've lived with biting sanctions for even longer.
 
I think we need to appreciate the magnitude of what Iran has done. In their reopening statement, they tied the Strait to Israel. And they clearly maneuvered Trump into maneuvering Israel. That's a pretty big deal. Something they can repeat and repeat. Pretty big win for them. And almost certainly guarantees that the reopening is short term.

They survive by selling oil. Covid and sanctions haven't prevented the selling of oil.

This might shock you, but they use the majority of their oil for domestic purposes. Running the economy. A blockade will cause pain but it will not bring down the regime. Not even close.
