Diesel has gone up over $.50 a liter here in Nova Scotia this week, Regular about $.30.The tone of the tweet suggests that Rupar thinks the "opposition" is wrong about what American voters care about, but I really don't think they are.
I was talking with a conservative-leaning but Trump-hating friend yesterday and mentioned the war. He said, "You want to know my thoughts on the war?" and pulled out a picture he took at the gas station showing the prices. I'm confident his is not an uncommon perspective.
People (especially, but certainly not exclusively, people who aren't highly educated) tend to inherently care most about what affects them. And for most Americans, gas prices affect them more than hundreds of dead children in a country they couldn't find on a map.
That's about $1.39 a gallon in American dollars for diesel. It may not have hit US pump prices yet, but it's coming, and when it's diesel that means the price of EVERYTHING is about to shoot through the roof.
