It’s weird that we seemingly don’t have a lot of footage of this war, right? Like with Iraq and Afghanistan I feel like I knew what was going on and where the US wAS fighting more or less, even though I was a lot younger and didn’t follow the news as closely. And obviously the Ukraine war we knew what was happening village by village. Just seems like there is much less information in comparison.

If reports by CBS and CNN are indeed accurate and the Iranian regime has decided to begin laying naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz to ensure its continued closure, this marks yet another serious escalation, which will have a destabilizing effect on global energy markets and will ensure continued disruptions to the flow of oil through this sensitive chokepoint. Questions have been raised about the readiness of the US minesweeper or mine countermeasures vessel (MCMV) fleet, which at times has suffered from technical issues and neglect. It remains unclear what tools and mechanisms the US Navy will deploy against dozens or hundreds of Iranian sea mines if they are used in substantial numbers. Tehran is believed to possess thousands of mines that are domestically produced or of Russian, Chinese, and North Korean origins, including direct contact mines or proximity naval mines. Another factor is whether these mines will be clustered around the narrowest part of the Strait of Hormuz or dispersed across a larger geographic footprint in the Gulf waters. Both scenarios pose their own challenges and point to an inevitable escalation of an already expansive regional war with global ramifications.

Anybody here remember the mid 1970’s oil shortage? Remember the gas lines? Even numbers get gas on MWF, odd numbers get gas on T,Th, S. - or some shit like that -

Remember the horrible attempts of US Auto manufacturers trying to build fuel efficient cars? The Vega, Gremlin, Pinto… ugh.

I had two Pintos, a ‘71 hatchback and a ‘74 station wagon with the fake wood paneling.
