This could end up putting the whole world into extreme economic pain. And now Iran AND Lebanon are warzones of rubble and death. As a US citizen who votes i feel some burden. But how much burden should Israel bare too? They've stirred up this entire shitstorm in the first place by not figuring out two-state or three-state solutions, by not doing something to avoid this perpetual threat of conflict. I consider them the big-brother in the conflict.

Or are they only at this point because we've been their enabler? For example If we had stopped being supportive when they continued creating settlements the last few decades, would the powder keg be more stable right now?

(reading about their museums and palaces being destroyed, thinking about all the lost culture during the Iraq war has me feeling guilty AF)

So when the oil tankers asked the U.S. Navy for help getting thru the Strait, the response was "No, its too dangerous." Wow.

But yet we expect these tanker captains to show some guts?

Iran and the U.S. were allies prior to 1979, period. Not even up for question. Trying to argue semantics about how far they would actually go for the U.S. is a deflection. Basically trying to backtrack without full on admitting you were wrong.

Look, I realize I'm up against a message board General here with tremendous confidence things will play out exactly as he predicts, namely that continuing this war in any respect will be an abject failure. I do not wish to venture a guess at the precise number of troops it would take to accomplish whatver end you have imagined that I implied. I will leave that to experts such as yourself. I realize that you think that anyone who thinks differently thatn you is an idiot. But I think as long as we're balls deep in the hand anyway we shouldn't fold on the river without at least trying to facilitate a revolution, particularly given that we have made things even worse at this point. Call it a difference of opinion. I realize different opinions here are often severely frowned upon, and often incite extreme overcompensation for various insecurities. I wasn't trying to trigger you, I promise.
Being pot committed, also known as the sunk cost fallacy, seems like a terrible reason to continue to throw money at what you know is almost certainly going to be a losing hand.

So we are stripping South Korea of equipment and supplies in order to oppose an manical dictator half a world away. What could possibly go wrong with that scenario? Hint: His father was a bigger cheat at golf than St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago is, once setting a course record of 18 consecutive holes in one.

This is ominous.

I guess Trump is expecting CIVIL strife?

The 260th Special Purpose Brigade is a specialized District of Columbia National Guard unit, activated in March 2026, designed to strengthen security in Washington, D.C. by coordinating military support for civil authorities and protecting critical infrastructure. It serves as a dedicated force for the nation's capital, enabling unified operations with federal and local law enforcement.

Key functions of the 260th Special Purpose Brigade include:
  • Security & Protection: Safeguarding critical infrastructure and supporting public safety operations within the District of Columbia.
  • Civil-Military Coordination: Acting as a bridge between the D.C. National Guard and civilian security partners to ensure a unified response.
  • Rapid Response: Maintaining high readiness to expand and respond to evolving security demands in the capital.
  • Command & Control: Providing a dedicated command structure for various missions, including protecting constitutional institutions.
The brigade was established to meet specific national guidance for securing the capital and is capable of supporting a broad spectrum of operations.
