Thank you for this post. Would you like to make a comment or offer an opinion about how this resignation will impact whether we will continue our war on Iran and whether it will impact the opinion of Congress and the American public.

I don't take his word. I look at the details of the situation to form an opinion. The US military is absolutely pummeling Iran. They can't retaliate against the US or Israel, so they're taking pot shots to stir up trouble; a last gasp.

The post I responded to was a bunch of "This could happen. That could happen" doom & gloom, mostly related so the strait of Hormuz. A couple pages later, what do I see? The US is sending Tripoli to reopen Hormuz. Did anyone actually think the US wouldn't be able to re-open Hormuz?

At what cost though? In addition to death and destruction of innocent people, your tax-dollars are being flushed down the toilet for a gain that doesn't seem tangible. Is one of our goals to NOT waste tax-payer dollars even more? If so, maybe sending Tripoli 3 weeks ago would've been a good idea?
And why was the Tripoli and MEU in Indo-Pacific in the first place? If China takes Taiwan (and it's chip manufacturing) the US AI "industry" will struggle much worse than the self-inflicted energy markets struggles.

So we're burning thru $ for military budget, putting AI-chip supply at risk, putting energy markets at risk, reacting in a seemingly haphazard manner, creating future terrorists, for what gain?

We won most of the conventional military battles in 'Nam but lost the asymmetrical ones and thus the war.

Military might + No Plan + Middle East + Time = Disaster.

$6T down the drain with the WoT - which should have been restricted to the police action of killing OBL and getting the hell out.

It's what happens when you go to the wrong place at the wrong time for the wrong reason. Going to Afghanistan to start with a limited objective to go after OBL and cronies and avoiding absolutely stupid comments about this being a crusade and we'd have been tremendously better off.

Opinions always vary widely when it comes to using the military and spending money. Most people wanted the US to financially support Ukraine... until they didn't. I think most people would like to see Iran, and it's ability to fund/promote terrorism, decimated. I think most people would like to know that Iran doesn't have a nuke and is unable to develop a nuke in the future... preferably ever. It's also true that Iran is at its weakest point in decades and now is a good time to make a military move.

So, in theory (and in a vacuum), I support what we're doing. The waste of taxpayer money is always a factor, but the deficit/debt ship sailed long ago. Neither party cares about fiscal responsibility, so it really comes down to personal preference on how much is too much because there is no right or wrong, which is why I find myself being for the Iran operation one minute and then against it the next minute.

However, no matter what happens, I actually beat @nycfan at posting a significant story and that can never be taken away from me.

I'm less worried about the money than the lives. How many lives is it worth on the flight of fantasy that this might be better than what we already had? It's the wasted lives on both sides that's the problem. We couldn't have done anything more to ensure old grievances never die. That's going to be true no matter who takes charge. I don't think we could maintain it long as a puppet state,either.
