It's spiraling out of control so fast now.

I was thinking this morning, everything Trump has done so far this term has been horrible but predictable. We knew it would be that bad. This feels like the first thing that's even worse than most people's extremely low expectations. As stupid as the man is, I really didn't think Trump would launch a large-scale war in the Middle East. We're now moving into the unpredictable ranges of Trump's horribleness, and I have no idea what might come next.
The most predictable part of the Iran War is that after Trump and the Trumpanzees caterwauled about how he would not entangle us in foreign wars, America first, Kamala will send your sons to die in Iran, the cost of war is too much, etc., the second he launches an ill-advised war for no reason at great cost, his sycophant start an entirely new chant: “Why don’t you libs love this war?”

Well, Trump is the great negotiator and could ask what price would it take to open the "straight" if we cut and run.
Maybe Iran would ask that Trump not claim that he won the war and pay a bribe of 100 billion ( which is only half of the request we need to fight the war )
I'm just waiting for when St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago looks at a map and demands that the "Straight of Hormuz" be renamed the "Crooked of Hormuz."

How long do you think it will be before Iran takes action against the Trump family or the Washington faction of the MAGA movement? It seems inevitable; it’s just a question of timing and targets. Attacking their religious leaders will not be met with silence...they feel an obligation to respond. I'd say the Trump boys best stay close to home for a long while. Same for Hegseth, etc. Just my opinion...of course.

I doubt it. Right now, almost the entire rest of the world is upset at the US and Israel for launching this idiotic war. We somehow managed to turn fucking IRAN into a victim in the eyes of most of the world. As much as the world also hates Trump, that perception changes if Iran takes out Trump or other high level leadership in the US.

Considering that one of the casus belli was the assemblage of so many of the leaders of Iran spurring essentially a mass assassination. it's gonna be hard for them to look blacker than us if they do.

Ideally, the SecDef would at least try to take the conflict seriously. I still remember when he told all the generals/admirals that our enemies were going to FAFO. Seems like it's Hegseth who FAed and is now FOing.

It might not be Iran itself, but it could be some pro-Iranian individuals.

The maintenance issues may be the cause & origin of the fire. As for the time it took to extinguish, well a couple years back there was a fire on a small helicopter carrier/landing ship in San Diego harbor. It took 4 days to put it out despite it being docked in a major military port. So 30 hours might be big or it might be a smouldering fire.

Regardless, I am more likely to believe that than Iran hit the Ford in the Red Sea.
The USS Bonhomme Richard was different. She wasn't a fully manned warship at sea with a full contingent of Damage Control personnel onboard. The Bonhomme Richard was in port undergoing maintenance. There would have been as many if not more civilians on board who are not trained as fire fighters. As far as repairs, I've been to Souda Bay in Crete. I'm not sure they have everything the Ford needs to complete repairs. For those you have served in the Navy, I bet the retention rates bottom out once the ship is back home. That's a metric that big Navy tracks for each CO.

This is yet another prime example of why this administration is such a clown show and a shitshow. We go into war and they use it as an opportunity to divide us more, making disparaging comments about those who question or oppose it. A competent administration would acknowledge that there are those of us who question it or oppose it, and rather than try to disparage such people, express some level of understanding as to why there may be concerns and then present a case for why this was necessary. Make some effort to unite everyone behind a common goal.
