Probably means that they feel confident that the regime has no way out of this crisis. The currency situation is worsening every day, there‘s no water in Tehran and now the secular movements are gaining traction.

If the number has jumped to 12,000 dead, is anyone here going to complain if Trump drops the hammer on Iran?
With, zero plan in place for what comes next...yes, I certainly will complain. Doing anything to upset a government without some clear plan to try tl assist afterwards is criminally negligent and invites even worse outcomes.

Yes. We have no fucking business there.
We don't have any business there, but the protesters are relying, in part, on the promise of aid from the United States. If we have emboldened them to put their lives on the line, and then do nothing, then we are partially responsible for the protesters' deaths.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would actually trust the unsupported word of Donald Trump. His naked word with no consultation with Congress doesn't seem either legally or morally binding to me.

I do feel for them if they were misled by Trump but, bottom line, he had no right and we still have no business getting mixed up in this.

I don't believe they'd move forward without some kind of plan, but I think a little retribution for egregious human rights violations is reason enough in this case.

There's also no concern that Iran, or its buddies Russia and Syria, can do anything to respond.

Not sure you want to establish this precedent if the Christofascists lose power.

You might want to rethink this line of reasoning in light of US military acts in Venezuelan waters, and ICE acts on the streets of American cities.

I don't equate narco-terrorists to civilian protesters.

I also wouldn't turn a blind eye to egregious human rights violations because of mistakes made by domestic law enforcement.

The ven diagram of people who use the terms “narco-terrorist,” “drain the swamp” and “never seen anything like it” is a perfect circle.

I agee, but he did get us mixed up in this. So, what now?

I don't know other than to go back in time and choose better. I'd feel like we were throwing good money after bad even if we thought we had something to win if it involved feet on the ground. As it stands, does anybody have any idea of what "winning" here even means? Damn a bunch of nation building. Let's do our homework first.
