If it makes you feel any better, this would sink Trump’s presidency and turn him into Jimmy Carter II.
What did Jimmy Carter ever do to deserve that insult? He was a better president and a better man.

Would you like to explain our winning position and why we should double down or just keep saying thoughtless things?

The Soviets er I mean Russians and the Chinese would pour supplies and material into the area in an effort to bog down the US and prolong the conflict. It would almost certainly draw in jihadists from all over the region looking for a chance to kill Americans and possibly Israelis. The risks are incredibly high and we would be going it alone this time (so far anyway).
They wouldn’t be able to fly or ship supplies in, and ground transportation would risk getting bombed.

Jimmy Carter lost the ability to influence democratic politicians because he became so unpopular in 1979 and 1980.

Likewise, if Trump gets into a ground war in Iran, it will burn all of his political support in America and make him a feckless president for 2027-2028.

It's still a terrible comparison in numerous ways.

What was it you said winning was going to be here?

The comparison was not based on morals or presidential quality. Solely as a statement of political power.

Jimmy Carter was the least powerful president of my lifetime and Trump has been the most powerful.

It is extremely important to the health of our democracy that Trump loses support and power. A ground war in Iran would likely do the trick.

So he's begging for China's help in opening the Strait because he can't do it by himself. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a strait between China and Taiwan?

As much as I despise Trump if it takes the deaths of Americans in useless foreign wars to get him out of power, that's not an America worth dying for.
