How can you set that aside? That was the crux of the problem. I don't call it a mistake because they were looking for an excuse to go after Iraq before Shrub was even elected.
Both have been about regime change. I believe whether or not one was a worse decision than the other was question, and overall public perception factors into that worse/better calculus IMO, and at the time many Americans wanted blood in the name of hurting terrorists.

Still, they intentionally lied us into going to the wrong country. Hurting the terrorists wasn't a bad idea except that it made it harder to hurt the real terrorists which was always the best idea. Doing it their way cost more lives, money and time and alienated more people. Fwiw, neither should have been about regime change.
 
The Trump administration reminds me of tales about the various circles of hell. Each one ruled by some demonic overlord that embodies in pure form some human vice pushed to the extreme.

They've been killing us for 47 years? I have to give their propagandists some credit -- they keep coming up with new, truly inventive forms of stupidity.
