This is the worst and cruelest action by a sovereign nation I can remember. It's getting to Khmer Rouge levels.

The paramilitaries that ravaged Darfur are probably still worse, all told. But that's not exactly the company a civilized nation should want to keep. And of course the Rwanda massacre was incomprehensibly awful in its own way.

All Western countries need to end their support for Israel. Israel has lost the right to exist as a sovereign nation. That is not to say that Israelis should be butchered. It just means it is a rogue state and should be treated like North Korea. If it can survive on its own, fine. But no more cover from Europe or America. Intentional starvation is unspeakably cruel and absolutely genocidal. Here's the record of intentional starvation:

Nazis: No. I'd rather die in a gas chamber than of starvation. So generally speaking, something has gone wrong if a country makes the Nazis look humane by comparison.
Stalin: Yes.
Mao: Yes
Khmer Rouge: Not exactly. Their specialties were disease and bullets.
Fidel: No.
Ortega: No.
Japan in WWII: Not to my knowledge.
Apartheid: No.
Netanyahu: Yes

Congrats, Israel

After a bit of research, I uncovered a couple of other examples. Nigeria's starvation campaign against Biafra in the late 60s. And to some degree the Ethopian government in the early to mid 80s. So the complete list of intentional starvations -- at least complete to my knowledge -- is:

Mao
Stalin
Biafra
Darfur
Ethopia
Netanyahu.

That is bleak. But Hamas won't return two hostages so it's all OK.

Macron has fumbled a number of living standard issues and coziness with the rich, but he’s been good on the Russia and now Israel pushback.

*Shocking* The UN is interfering with humanitarian aid being transferred from Israel into Gaza. Food is rotting in palattes.

UN Refuses to Cooperatively Distribute Aid as Reported Hunger Grows in Gaza

Israel blames UN for Gaza aid failures

Speaking to POLITICO, Sa’ar said that Israel had opened up more crossing points and was allowing more aid to enter Gaza under a deal struck with the European Union.

The problem was that the U.N. was failing to distribute more than 900 truckloads of aid parked in a fenced-off area near the Kerem Shalom crossing point in the Gaza Strip, he said. ā€œThe problem is the U.N. is not distributing [aid],ā€ Sa’ar said in a phone interview from Ukraine, where he met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and launched a ā€œstrategic dialogueā€ on Iran. ā€œThere are more than 900 trucks waiting … inside Gaza Strip, and they are just not distributing them to the people in Gaza.ā€

In response Israel is allowing foreign countries to parachute in humanitarian aid.

Israel allows foreign countries to parachute aid into Gaza

UK, France, Germany are involved.

The IDF has stated there are no reasonable military targets left. It's time to transition. The remaining hostages are likely dead. Hostages are not a military objective. This should become a police action.

If a nation, especially, Israel, wants to take the risk of delivering desperately needed aid in a war zone, then that is their prerogative and choice. The UN should be a facilitator. They have a long history of ineffectiveness at maintaining or initiating peace. Ī™ am happy to see European countries directly providing aid. They understand that Ukraine and Gaza/Hamas are part of the same conflict.

I believe that Israel should unilaterally initiate a cease fire. I believe they would have the full cooperation of NATO members and the Arab Coalition. Gaza is a thorn in everyone's side. A permanent peace settlement may take years, even a decade...but the shooting and starting have to stop. Gaza will need training wheels. An Arab coalition peace keeping for with embedded US special forces and Israeli IDF in support can begin the rebuilding process.

France to recognizes indiependent Palestinian state
Macron understands that Gaza and Ukraine are linked through Iran and Putin. Macron seeks to weaken Hamas' position.

If the War in Gaza ends, both Netanyahu and Hamas are out of power. Maintaining power at any cost is all they care about now.

I’m no cheerleader for the UN.

Also, I’ll shift my accusations of genocide and human rights abuses to the new shiny object when Israel demonstrates a modicum of good faith.
