Israel launches attack on Iran

In Russia v. Ukraine, there’s a bad actor and a good one. Russia is the bad actor.

In Israel v. Hamas there are two bad actors. One might be a 0 on a 0-10 scale and one might be a 0-1. Both are bad.

In Iran v. Israel, it’s two bad actors. Iran’s definitely a zero. In this fight, Israel might comparatively be a two. Israel is still a violent nation that lies and needlessly kills civilians.
Ukraine is far from a good actor lol

Tell me you're Islamophobic without telling me you're Islamophobic.
Acknowledging the truth isn't Islamophobic. Did you miss the very significant unrest in Iran recently because the morality police beat a young girl to death because she wasn't covered enough?

Also worthwhile to note that none of Iran's neighbors are actually mad about this. No one wanted to see a nuclear-armed Iran. They are giving their obligatory "this is outrageous" statements to the media, but behind closed doors they are probably all high-fiving. Its like when your neighbor who has a history of DUIs comes over and tells you that his car just got repoed. "Oh nooooo......realllly? Man, that's horrriblllle....boooooo."

It's not the fault of Israel that Iran, along with other Muslim countries/leaders, has publicly expressed its desire to literally wipe Israel off the map.

It's unfortunate that innocent lives are lost, but Israel has no choice. Israel has to take preventative actions to ensure its survival.
It's unfortunate as long as you can watch from a far. How would you feel if your family were killed over something we should be able to solve diplomatically?

Remind me why there's no international regulatory oversight of the Iranian nuclear program to prevent them developing weapons.
Lol at your characterization of no regulatory oversight as if that deal actually achieved regulatory oversight. When you allow the inmate to dictate when and what part of the cell the guards can inspect you have no oversight. Trump rightfully ditched it because it was completely feckless. So if you are making the argument that obama's deal would have kept Iran from acquiring a bomb then you are just wrong.

I'd love to live in a world where there's no war, people all behaved reasonably and anything/everything could be resolved diplomatically. As we know, that isn't the case and sometimes bad things happen.

Iran has put themselves in this position. They have been funding terror attacks on Israel for decades and, again, has publicly stated its intention to eliminate Israel.

What about human rights? Or does that not count? One country, that you are supporting, is starving over a million people. But that's cool because the ones that are being starved don't matter to you.
Why are they being starved (your words)? What has happened to the aid that was sent?

In Twist, U.S. Diplomacy Served as Cover for Israeli Surprise Attack

Talks seen as a way to keep the peace gave Israel the opportunity to land heavy military blows

“… With a sixth round of talks between Trump administration envoy Steve Witkoff and his Iranian counterparts set for Sunday in Oman, Israeli and U.S. officials warned of military action if Iran didn’t agree to end its production of fissile material that can be used in nuclear weapons.

… On Thursday, Trump said he didn’t think an Israeli attack was imminent, “but it is something that could very well happen.” He also said Washington and Tehran were “fairly close to a pretty good agreement” but that Iran would need to make further compromises to avoid conflict.

Hours later, Israel launched hundreds of warplanes in several waves to hit targets across Iran.

“There is no question that the Witkoff mission was a major contributor to the surprise,” said Dennis Ross, who served as a senior official on Middle East issues during Democratic and Republican administrations. “The Iranians would have assumed that Israel would not attack while the talks were under way and a meeting was about to take place.”

… A major worry was that Israel’s airstrikes could damage but not destroy Iran’s nuclear program because much of it was buried and dispersed. That might allow Iran to continue its nuclear program covertly. Another longstanding fear was that Iran might respond to an Israeli strike by lashing out at U.S. bases in the region, Washington’s Arab allies and oil shipments in the Persian Gulf, which would draw the U.S. military into the fray.

… But Iran’s conspiracy-minded hard-liners are already inclined to see an American hand in Israel’s military operations. And some former U.S. officials say it won’t be easy for Trump to distance himself from Israel’s military operation.

Aaron David Miller, the former U.S. Middle East peace negotiator, said that there are no indications the White House was so opposed to an Israeli military strike that it was prepared to put the U.S.-Israeli relationship on the line. Israel, he said, was given a “plausible denial green light.” …”

The world is complex and there are bad people everywhere. I’m an American. We have to choose sides. The vast majority of the Muslim world doesn’t like/trust the US. Israel would never harm the US. It’s pretty simply for most humans. What’s best for me and my safety? Siding with Israel is a clear answer for most Americans. One side hates me. One side doesn’t.
The world is definitely complex, which makes me wonder why you think such a simplistic binary view of it could ever be appropriate.

Oh Trump thinks Iran will negotiate now that they've been bombed? Mr. Amazing Dealmaker is hoping that violence will get Iran to sign . . . the same deal Trump ripped up a decade ago, the same one that was achieved by diplomacy alone.

The only way to look at these Iran negotiations is that it's a massive failure by Trump going back a decade.
Mr trump doesn't understand negotiating.
