June 14 Military Parade — DC

And what is our glorious president doing about all of this? Spending well over $50 million of taxpayer money to throw a military parade for himself on his birthday. I'm beginning to understand how Roman citizens must have felt when Nero played around while Rome burned. I know that's probably a historical myth, but the symbolism certainly fits this administration perfectly.

I don't like the spending, but the event definitely wasn't about Trump. He barely spoke and was reasonably professional in what he said.

My, those stands were certainly full yesterday, amirite? Meanwhile much larger crowds turned out all over the country - even in red states! - to protest Dear Leader's abuses of power in his second term. As some others have already said, that parade, instead of being a personal triumph, was actually rather embarrassing for Trump. The Army appears to have trolled him by playing protest songs, the crowd was small and seemed mostly bored, and in spite of right-wing claims that the parade was held to honor the Army's 250th birthday, it was clearly done to celebrate Dear Leader's birthday - including having the Army and crowd sing "Happy Birthday" to him (not to the Army, but to him personally). Not the best day (or a good look) for Dear Leader, imo.

Nah, his first post was correct. I’ve been either active or reserve in the Army for a decade and a half. I haven’t spent a minute on drill and ceremony since graduating my basic course. Some grunt types do it when a general changes command, but this stuff is just not a priority, because we are professionals, not show pieces.
 
Hold on. nycfan's guy said he would estimate at 100K. Now I'm seeing people say it was more like 10K. What's the real number?
