But, as others have said, GOP election boards don’t exactly deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Don't give them the benefit of the doubt, then. But there isn't a lot of doubt. The conspiracy-theory angle here is just not plausible.

Note that I'm not asking you to believe that the MT SOS is above this sort of thing. I'm just asking whether you want to cling to a narrative that makes no sense at all. I mean, this is cyber-ninja level nutso conspiracy shit.

This would be a more compelling argument if lawyers ever got disbarred.
Try “forgetting” to deposit a couple of settlement checks into your trust account, which is of roughly comparable magnitude to the mistakes we’re talking about here.

Trump be calling the Governor: “Just find me 300 votes. That’s all I need. Just 300 votes” “This election was stolen! Stop the steal! It’s gonna be wild!” “Did you see what they did to me in Montana? Did you see? They didn’t even include my name on the ballot! Election Fraud! Stop the steal!”
“Come at me bro!”

I was kidding about lawyers getting disbarred. But these mistakes are not of roughly comparable magnitude.

What would happen if a lawyer gave a pile of checks to the admin to deposit, and one or two of them fell onto the floor of his/her car, so the others got deposited but those did not. Then, when the client complains where's my settlement, the admin finds the checks and deposits them.

I don't know the professional responsibility rules inside and out, but I have trouble believing there would be any consequences to the attorney.
