Lost my cool with a member of Congress yesterday

Deborah Ross called yesterday. She calls a couple of times per year to check in which of course translates to "need money". I like Representative Ross and appreciate her, but yesterday was a bad day. I lit her up like no tomorrow about how feckless and spineless the Dems are in Congress. I feel awful about it after the fact, but it's done now. She was very gracious. Moreso than I deserved.

She's my representative too and I also like her but based on your description she needed to hear what you had to say and in the manner that you said it. Good for you.

They need to hear it. They are spineless.

So what did she say? What did she reveal about her positioning?

She said she knows they need to do more and obviously getting the majority is a big part of that. I said "we plan to gove you that majority but waste it and I promise your ass is voted out next". That did cause a long pause and a "i completely hear you. We need to fight."

I expected her to get a legitimate primary opponent this year. She dodged a bullet by taking minimal AIPAC money in previous cycles. Foushee looks to be in major trouble.

It is a pretty thankless job. Reps need to make fundraising calls for 3-4 hours a day. They have no real power unless they get high in leadership. And they get yelled at on the phone by unhappy constituents. No wonder they quit to become pundits.

Dang. You don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but I generally curious about the donation threshold that gets you phone calls from members of Congress. Good for you, though. Don't feel bad. I'm sure she's heard far worse.

The ads against foushee make her look like a Corporate lap dog

Lots of truth to this, but I would never call the job thankless. I like Deborah but cant imagine she would have many other opportunities to make $200k per year with full benefits for life.

I don't think that a lot of them are spineless, it's mostly the leadership in both houses that lack the guts and backbone to do anything. I think there's a number of them that would fight more if they had decent leadership.
I hope so. And I hope for that leadership.

I had no idea that was necessary. Truly a game I never could play.
