Jesus, he most certainly was not more corrupt the first time. I imagine he's taken untold billions in bribes so far this term, foreign and domestic.
Yeah, he was the most corrupt president in history his first term, but this administration is more corrupt than that one by orders of magnitude. From a corruption perspective, we're easily at Russia/Belarus/Hungary levels now.

I hear you, but corruption just doesn't seem to hit on Trump and his administration. He was probably more corrupt his first term with all of those oil Nations buying lots of rooms in his hotel and making sure that ivana's trademarks weren't hit with sanctions from China. The counterparties at least had to believe he was going to make concessions and he almost certainly did.

That's the type of corruption that actually affected everyone's pocketbooks as opposed to the crypto stuff. But he got reelected anyway. Kind of the same thing with the billionaire tax cuts. He keeps giving massive tax cuts to his donors and the electorate doesn't seem to care as long as I get a small tax cut.

To me, it's the economy and the Iran war that are going to crush Republicans in the midterm. I think that's where the resources should be dedicated.
Your point about econ and war are probably right, but his 1st term corruption was more about blurred lines and lazy application of laws, this round has more obvious pay to play fleecing

LOL. Shit like that was chickenfeed compared to what he's been doing this term. There are probably a dozen (self) deals he's done with various entities that have each on their own enriched him personally more than everything he did his entire first term. Those were his salad days, he's at the hog trough now...

He and the hundreds of people in his orbit. I have no confidence this will happen, but I have no doubt public corruption/insider trading charges could be brought against 500+ people if a future DOJ had the means and will to do so.

I think the current corruption is more blatant than in the first term, but I agree that the economy (tariffs, inflation) and Middle East unprovoked war of choice are the big talking points. I think Dems can make Republicans play defense on the Epstein files, beat them to death about protecting pedophiles especially when they try their culture war bullshit about trans/bathroom/womens sports.

When Republicans try to raise culture war issues, just counter with "these are nonsense issues Republicans raise to distract you from the Epstein files and their protection of billionaire pedophiles. They want to you to fear some poor unfortunate person struggling with gender dysphoria while they have repeatedly broken their promise for transparency on the Epstein files because they are protecting their big donor pedophile friends. Don't fall for. Stay focused on what is really important. They talk about "protecting our children" from people dealing with gender identity issues when the real threat to our children is human trafficking and pedophilia. Exposing the sicko Epstein pedophiles is how we really protect our children."

I agree with you on that first part. The insider trading has been off the charts, and probably provable. But I worry that if the next Dem administration goes after all these dudes, however justifiable, you'll invigorate Maga just when they're ready to fall back into relative obscurity, at least as a political movement and force. Again, I have no qualm with the justice and legality of holding these people accountable, but I wonder if it would be the right move politically...

I know. I really struggle with that myself. The thought of the lawlessness of this moment not being accounted for is incomprehensible. But from a political perspective, I agree it's really complicated. This is the mess the modern GOP has created for all of us. They've made bogeymen out of trivialities, and they'll use that outrage to push back on accountability for the extreme illegality their own people are committing. These are dark times, and the people who enable it, including several who post here, bear the blame.
