JJ is a sane democrat and has very unifying characteristics. Look at his tiktocs. He is so smooth that you forget he is even a politician. I would have voted for him for potus. When they can get him ready he will be the pubs kryptonite.
Get him ready? What are we talking, charm school? Think Trump had anyone "getting him ready" in '16? There's talent in the Dem party. What they need perhaps is for the dinosaurs (Pelosi, Sanders, Schumer, etc.) to get out of the way. Isn't it past their bedtimes?

MAGA is probably the least sustainable coalition in the history of democratic politics. Not saying Dems don’t need to find a voice because they do. But MAGA is almost guaranteed to eat itself within the next four years, regardless of anything the Dems do.

Completely agree with all of this. Unfortunately, it’s going to have taken about 10 years too long. But I do agree that MAGA is not sustainable, and that when the pendulum swings against it, it’s going to be quite a backlash.

First, it was the Silent Majority. Then the Moral Majority. Then the Tea Party. Then MAGA.

Even when Trump dies, someone will continue tying fundamentalist religion and right-wing culture wars to low taxes for the 1-10%.

Our electoral system that favors land over people will still exist.

I don’t see MAGA crumbling.

That's fair, but in none of those cases did the GOPer single-handedly create an economic downturn.

If there is any justice, there should be a schism in the Christian faith that marginalizes some of the appeal.

The tea party says "hold my beer"

I'm going to buy a bunch of maga hats and embroder gay under the g. :D

I can't be optimistic as all of you in a swing back. They know the coalition won't last; they're taking steps to destroy the system so it doesn't need a coalition. This is a permanent power grab. They aren't planning on winning again; they are planning on cancelling anything that resembles a fair contest. DOJ is being purged. Military is next. They are taking control of who has the power in all other government activities. They are creating a dependent class of people who are forced to submit or face the closed fist of the executive branch. And no one is coming to save us.

And we’ve been warning people about this since 2015, at least in terms of trump.

They haven’t had an overtly Christian character in 20 years? Holy moly.
Probably one of the fastest shrinking demographics, as it should be in an educated society. I guess, with the administration abolishing the Department of Education, they anticipate a reversal. I expect that's a better story than admitting they are afraid of Trump's blackmail tactics.

No the democratic party values are fine. It's just people started to listen to BS because it seems to lineup with what they believe. LGTBQ, roe, anti discrimination. These are all basic rights and freedoms. Even anti Vax is a target against other peoples freedoms. What these people who say the Democratic party doesn't fit their values, it's because they believe their values to be more important than other peoples values. Their freedom to be more precious then other people's freedoms. Democratic party doesn't need to change their values. They just have to do a better job of showing the American people why they are the ones truly working for the American people.

One of the most depressing things about Trump 2.0 has been how easily and quickly nearly every corporation, news media organization, educational organizations and schools, and the like has just rolled over for Trump and done whatever he wanted. I'm sure some will argue that it shouldn't be surprising, but it's still something to see companies noted for their once-proud liberalism and promotion of diversity - Disney, Target, the Washington Post, the NY Times, the College Board (which manages AP courses), the list just goes on and on. Is there no one willing to speak up and and out against this guy, or in favor of diversity initiatives? It's one thing for Dear Leader and Musk to seize power, it's another to see them to do it with the complicit or open support of nearly every major corporation and news media site and other institutions.

Of course, that's how the Nazis did it in Germany, so I guess maybe it does fit. It's just so damned depressing to see though, especially at how "elastic" and feckless all of these companies and organizations turned out to be.

But Christians still make up a big chunk of the population. Crazy that it’s been 20 years.
