March Madness - Elite 8

As possibly the only Illinois alumni on the board, I would also be happy if Duke had a difficult time with the Illini. At a minimum, I could count on the support of the majority of the board. First things first though, the Hawkeyes. They're obviously playing well and in the sole game between Illinois and Iowa this year (@Iowa), Illinois won by 6. Expect this to be a good, close game.
An old school Big Ten wrestling match coming up.
May the best team win.

If Zona handles a 30 win Purdue team easily… I’d be hard pressed to bet against them in the FF.

However if Purdue can squeak by, we’re looking at possibly having a Big 10 tournament… 3 of the FF

Nice! I had no idea you were an Illini!

I’m not an Illinois alum but I did marry into a family that is chock full of them- 28 in total if including both of my wife’s parents, 10 of her aunts and uncles, and currently 16 first cousins and counting.

I’ve been to Champaign-Urbana several times now with my FIL for Illinois football and basketball games- such a phenomenal college town with awesome people. Definitely have adopted Illinois as a second team. I-L-L!

A potential matchup with Illinois would be interesting. The two longest/tallest teams in the country.

Lots of basketball to be played before then.

That one wasn’t as close as the final score made it seem. Illinois had a pretty comfortable lead for most of it iirc

Think y’all will be fine. Iowa has been super efficient lately which worries me some. Just don’t see them maintaining it while defending and rebounding like they need to

As for a potential matchup with Duke.. I definitely trust this Illinois team more than a small sloppy Houston. Florida would’ve made this safer but it is what it is

Don’t have a lot of faith in this UConn team. Thought Mich St would take them out

And really, Mich St was the better team for about 30 mins of that game

C game from Fears while Reed was the best player on the court was the difference

So I know y'all hate us but in a world of NIL and transfers and greed, for Caleb Foster to do what he did tonight was special. He's my favorite player anyhow and this was just really really cool to watch. Grew up a Duke fan and fighting for his dream

That kid showed guts last night. Thought him being out was the chink in the Duke armor. Having him back, even at reduced capacity, could be the difference.

Foster Foot >>> Duhon Rib
I’ve not really been too impressed with Foster, but that’s admittedly more about a lackluster Fr/So effort. I thought him being out was a net positive because the lesser Boozer was getting more burn and made he most of it. But last night would have almost certainly been a loss without Foster on the floor.
Getting Ngbonga and Foster back, even at 80%, along with the increased confidence of Khamenia and Cayden Boozer makes me want to vomit. I still like either Arizona or Michigan over duke, but duke only has to get lucky against one of them.
