Mark Robinson thread | Sues CNN for Naked Africa reporting

I would offer a third option: A closeted, self- loathing gay man who was on the look-out for free sex. I did not know this factoid about Robinson before today. But this raises the possibility that he is a self-loathing, closeted gay man from the "I don't think so" level to the "99% certain" level. That he no longer seeks his thrills in video parlors strongly suggests he has found an alternative outlet for that part of him that he believes or believed is less risky. What ever that "less risky" alternative, I think it involves saying "how high" on the way up when who ever provided the alternative says, "Jump!"

Anyone want to bet that Josh Stein declines to press this issue out of a sense of simple common decency?
On behalf of the gay community, we reject his admission. Straights can have that one.

I hope not. To hell with playing nice with these people. Hammer him on this issue and all of his other crap repeatedly until election day. Take no chances that this massively hypocritical idiot has any chance of sitting in the governor's mansion next year.

What kind of psychopath eats pizza while working the gloryhole?

Man that was my exact thought, too. Who brings a whole pizza to a porn shop. MAGA really is weird. Trump eats well-done steak with ketchup. Robinson eats well-done penis with pizza. The whole movement is bizarre.

Or maybe someone is lying about it. Im skeptical of anything on social media without concrete proof.

In a normal world Trump's polling numbers should look like Robinson's, they are both batshit crazy.
Yeah, when people who are willing to vote for Trump say there is no way they could vote for Robinson because he’s too crazy, it just blows my mind. Both of those fools are entirely unfit for office and it’s embarrassing that either of them are their party nominees for their respective offices. I guess celebrity carries a lot of weight.

How was all this "stuff" not out there when he was vetted to be Lt. Gov.?
No one cares about Lt Governor. Who is running for Lt Governor? I know Rachel Hunt, but I honestly have no idea who is running against her.

It's why Governor/Lt Gov should run as a ticket like in other states.

How was all this "stuff" not out there when he was vetted to be Lt. Gov.?
It's an absolutely useless role in NC. It does nothing. Like the above post said, I know 0 about the two folks running for Lt Gov. I will vote for the D because, D. But I wont even bother to research because it means so little.

And some of his ads seemed like a payment in kind to the Stein campaign.

Political observers were pretty surprised how successful Robinson’s fund-raising had been earlier in the year. It sounds like a lot of that may have tapped out / dried up.

From The Guardian link embedded in the tweet above:

“… Since 17 August, advertisers have spent $7m in North Carolina supporting Democrats, compared with $4.7m supporting Republicans.

Through the end of June, Stein’s campaign raised $32.9m and had $15.9m in the bank. Robinson’s campaign raised $15.8m – a record for a Republican candidate – with $6.6m remaining.

In June, North Carolina’s Republican-dominated legislature enacted changes to the state’s campaign finance laws, permitting federal Pac and political organizations to contribute to North Carolina candidates and political committees without registering or reporting as a state Pac. It essentially allows donors from around the country to give money to North Carolina candidates through state committees without disclosure.

That move was seen as benefiting Robinson, whose sharp rhetoric has drawn peals of outrage over the course of his public career.

Robinson’s commentary attacking the LGBTQ+ community, women and even other Black people pitched him as a provocateur even before an appearance in June at a Bladen county church, where he said “some folks need killing” in a speech describing political opponents as “communists” and “evil”.

… Two weeks later, a gunman tried to kill Donald Trump, throwing Robinson’s rhetoric into sharp relief. …”

There was a lot that was put out there— and frankly it seemed like enough to know he was crazy and unfit for office— but because it was such a low profile race, most people don’t pay attention.

Back when he was running for Lt. Governor I saw 2-3 Mark Robinson signs in my neighborhood. (The two precincts that cover my neighborhood went blue in the last two presidential election years, with one being more blue than the other, and I’m in a solid blue city.) I gotta say, that shook me a little bit. I assume if you have his campaign sign in your yard, you know something about him. So those people knew about him and were willing to publicly show their support for him.

Or at least some of his campaign funds found its way into his pockets. He's a grifter through and through.
