Mark Robinson thread | Sues CNN for Naked Africa reporting

“In a video clip, an unnamed reporter could be overheard asking: “So you’re saying that a national, a global news organization is conspiring with a third-party outfit to throw an election which was already looking like this person was not going to win?”

That's awesome

Perhaps. But porn store guy was looking for a break on pizza prices. MarkyMarkMark was looking for a break on video prices. Scratching each others back in the service industry. Paragraphs 15 and 16 can have a kernel of truth ALONG WITH the corn crib full of facts about MarkyMark and his porn store fetish back then and minisoldr’s exploits on the porn sites.
I worked in a small local pizza joint when I was an undergrad. There was a locally owned video (not pr0n) rental place across the street. Exchanging discounts definitely happened on a regular.

Those of us who started UNC in fall 1999 had to read "Nickel and Dimed" as our summer reading. It was an account of people trying to make a living in service industry jobs. And some of us have also worked service industry jobs.

I'm no defender of Robinson, but based on the two things above I can totally believe his claims in paragraphs 15 and 16.
I remember “There Are No Children Here” better from our ‘99 summer reading!

Trying a different route to be governor since he won't win?

This story about Robinson threatening to sue CNN. It makes me remember Bobo's similar threat to sue over being outed for being on a sugar baby escort site in daisy duke's and other provocative poses. Did she ever sue? I was sure it was all deflection at the time.

Robinson will get nowhere with his suit before he loses. Is he dumb enough to pursue afterwards and go through further discovery in public record? I say no way, having an attorney or not, the lawyer is just a prop.

In re lawsuit: Under the NC rules of civil procedure, after filing the complaint and receiving the summons, Robinson has 60 days in which to serve the complaint on the named defendants. So service can be delayed until after the election. Any bets on whether Robinson's lawyers have a long and candid talk with him about how prior to getting to trial, there will be a discovery period and part of that discovery will undoubtedly be a deposition of Robinson taken under oath. And while the whole "under oath" thing has a somewhat elastic quality among Republicans, it has a strictly inelastic quality among trial judges.

I just received a text message about this. How should I respond?

OK. It's at 6:00 pm. Get to an Army Surplus store in the moring, there are some in Raleigh, and buy a set of fatigues. Above the left-hand pocket of the fatigues jacket, which is what civilians call a shirt, is a space for a name. In that space, write in magic marker, there isn't time for embroider a name tag, the word "MiniSoldr" Also buy a webbelt and a pistol holster. Use that holster to hold your phone. Don't wear blackface, that would be in poor taste.

I bet half of the Republicans I know, are either voting Stein or writing someone else in. Robinson has lost a ton of support. He may get like 35%. Stein will walk into the governors mansion.

Robinson held a town hall-style meeting near me last week. My college student oldest was home and we thought about attending to heckle or try to ask an uncomfortable question, but didn't want to take the chance that we'd end up surrounded by folks who were really pissed about our presence.

I'm confident the lawyers have already had that talk with him, and they have no intention of ever getting this lawsuit to the discovery stage. They'll voluntarily dismiss after the election. This is just for optics because his repeated claims that the story is a lie were lacking in credibility without him even filing any suit over it.

Agree. Next to zero chance this is a real suit. I'd wager they'll quietly drop it on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, or a Friday prior.
