Colombia is blocking US military deportation flights, its president says

“… Two US military flights bound for Colombia overnight were turned back, according to a flight tracker, after Petro wrote in a post on X that he was denying entry for the aircraft.

In another post, Petro left the door open to receiving migrant flights, but called on the US to use civilian planes and establish better protocols for their treatment of migrants.

While Colombia cannot allow migrants to remain in a country that does not want them, they must be sent back “with dignity and respect for them and for our country. We will receive our fellow citizens on civilian planes, without treating them like criminals,” the Colombian president wrote. …”

He got pissy and has declared "Tariff!"

Go, Trump, go! The more tariffs, the better! Crush that pesky international trade so your minions can see you’re helping their economic anxiety!

There's evidence to support that, something the lies you're telling don't have. You can look almost anywhere that actually have something besides purpoted statistics and find that out for yourself.

Sorry, Bubba. Doesn't work that way. You want me to look up info to prove you're right? Buffoon keeps buffooning.

I don't think he is intent on destroying the institutions and systems in our g'ment. I think he thinks like a business man and his default is to look for efficiency gains and to streamline.
Firing everyone with no plan for how to get the job done doesn't equate to efficiency gains or streamlining. It's pure I'm in charge power hungry stupidity.

To be fair, there are plenty of examples of corporate America doing this over the last several years. Twitter being one of the most prominent. It pretty much never works, but it’s not as if people who think like a businessman are immune from making catastrophically stupid economic decisions.

Stephen Miller doesn't control immigration policy, so he can think whatever he wants.

JFC, if this BaitMode poast doesn't definitively put him squarely in the realm of a long-game troll/deeply unserious person, I don't know what does. :ROFLMAO:
What kind of immigration are you talking about? Green cards are given to specific countries and are based on a percentage. Asylumo ttals are agreed upon by Congress and the president and change annually depending on circumstances in the world.

Colombia tariffs are patently illegal. The president cannot impose sanctions for this reason, or tariffs. If this turns into anything formal -- more formal than a social media tantrum -- it will be enjoined in a week, I would guess.

Yea, the point was more how does it work.

My company laid off the entire training and most of the quality team last year. Guess what, training and quality are now big issues. Labor cost savings are not always greater than the other issues they cause.

I'm sort of hoping they lay off the engineering department this year. I'd be ok with a year's pay and time to plan for the future.

Doesn't matter, remember the SCOTUS said that he can break the law...

100% agree. Except for the part where you get laid off. :)

This POTUS is a convicted felon and likely rapist. Aren't you the one who is all about hypocrisy?
Yes, I am. Because trump hasn't followed society's standards, that has no bearing on what we should be teaching students with respect to national security and our borders. Not a very good argument on your part. Our institutions of higher learning should be setting an example of following the law and because 1 person didn't in certain cases doesn't mean the goal of teaching society to follow the law is out of the window.

I think freedom of speech is a right reserved for American citizens and is not applicable for non-citizens. Maybe that's legally inaccurate but the board lawyers can verify.
There's a good field test specifically for you. Take your first opinion and choose the opposite. You'll be correct almost all the time

Definitely incorrect.
"Once situated lawfully in the United States, aliens enjoy First Amendment rights"

Ok, are all US citizen rights available to non citizens?

Initially I thought I might support trump's effort to deport them. Now, if that is their right I do not support it if they are here lawfully.
