I did a Google and even used “illegal immigrants” and the first several sources all backed up what finesse said. When I see "unauthorized" substituted for "illegal" that tells me a lot. Just do a search of and you will find multiple sources that lay out the numbers. And that doesn't even count the unknowns.
The fact that anyone would defend what has been allowed happen just makes me shake my head. Anyone willing to do so just lends credence to the people who believe the US will not have to be defeated on the battlefield, it will defeat itself from within.
Do you have a source?

What we know about unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S.
The unauthorized immigrant population in the U.S. grew to 11 million in 2022, but remained below the peak of 12.2 million in 2007.

US Undocumented Population Increased to 11.7 Million in July 2023: Provisional CMS Estimates Derived from CPS Data - The Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS)
The sharp rise in arrivals at the U.S. southern border has added extra urgency to questions about the size and growth of the undocumented population.
