Mormons are to Christianity as hispanics are to race. They are considered a part of the group when it is politically convenient for republicans, and separate from it in all other instances.
Many Evangelicals feel the same way about Papists

More details emerge about the shooting of five cops (three died) in rural PA:

“… The shooting incident reportedly occurred just after 2 pm (reportedly approx. 2:08 pm) when the detectives had approached the residence with an arrest warrant for 24 yo Matthew Ruth of Penn Twp. He had reportedly been stalking a female who lived at the residence the evening before and there were concerns for safety as he was noted to be carrying an AR15-style rifle. (The residents of the home were not present at the time of this incident.) Upon approaching the residence, the front door was noted to be open, and as police moved forward, the alleged assailant, Matthew Ruth, ambushed the detectives from inside the home, firing at them from the door. Three detectives from Northern York County Regional Police were immediately shot and killed by Ruth, a fourth was badly injured and down, and Ruth then proceeded to fire at a sheriff's deputy who was also shot and injured. The sheriff's deputy and a fifth NYCRPD detective continued to fire back at Ruth, at which time he attempted to run and was subsequently hit and killed.…”

A depressingly common story. Statistically speaking most law enforcement involved shootings are responding to domestic violence calls. Domestic violence offenders with access to firearms will kill someone. The only question is if it's just their victim, or if it will be their victim, the entire family, and any law enforcement to show up.

Earlier photos circulated had been of the wrong Matthew Ruth.

Let us not forget the divine words of Saint Charlie of Kirk: "I think it's worth it to have a cost of unfortunately some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other god-given rights."

In the next incarnation of what follows the former United States, there will not be a Second Amendment or anything resembling the mangled interpretation of it by our Lawless Supreme Court.

Not sure what Dems are supposed to do when Pubs don't care and have control of Congress, which is in part because of gerrymandering by the Pubs. The both sides are to blame stuff is bull.
dems can't do anything tangible on the issue right now, but their leadership's messaging on the issue has been insufficient and mealy-mouthed. kirk's shooting was a perfect opportunity to play a little offense and condemn it as gun violence just as much as they did political violence, rather than trying to play defense from the attacks on the left from republicans. it would have been so easy to make republicans have to justify his killing in the name of the second amendment and maybe get some support for gun control across the country, but instead, we've got nothing.

“… Johns told the outlet the conversation took “a very sharp turn” as the subject of religious faith was brought up, Sanford saying he had a relationship with a woman whose family was Mormon when he lived in Utah.

The council candidate — who has since been in contact with Michigan State Police and the FBI — said Sanford peppered him with questions about the tenets of the Mormon faith, the role Jesus plays in the religion, the history of the church and its founder Joseph Smith.

“It was very much standard anti-LDS talking points that you would find on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook,” he told the outlet.

… Sanford then stated that he considered Mormonism “the antichrist.”…”

Why wouldn’t

Dude is giving away the game about 5 years too early.

The Great Mormon Purge is scheduled for 2030 after the Evangelicals have consolidated all the powers of government. Of course the Catholics will lend a hand (while 100% ignoring that they're next).

I wish this post was more of a joke than it is. Purges of erstwhile allies are an 100% inevitable law of political history after a revolutionary takeover of government.

I think I said earlier that at some point I thought police unions would get tired of their membership blown away, but they love them some pro-gun candidates, so what can you do?

“… In recent weeks, locals said, Sanford began behaving oddly – nearly running over a longtime friend with his truck in a seeming joke, asking a local political candidate questions about his positions on guns and then openly declaring his hatred for the LDS church, even saying that “Mormons are the Antichrist.”

… Kara Pattison, a longtime friend of Sanford’s who spoke to CNN affiliate WDIV Local 4,remembered him as a “fun-loving family guy,” but also said he “harbored unkind feelings toward certain groups” and “definitely talked about groups of people in ways that weren’t acceptable.”

… Jason Allen, a Burton resident, told CNN that even locals who didn’t personally know Sanford recognized his truck.

With flags flying from the back as Sanford drove it through town, “you couldn’t miss the truck,” Allen said. Sometimes, he said, Sanford would “switch one of his flags out for a ‘F*** Biden’ flag.”…”

Yeah, I’ve always thought it’s the weirdest thing that police advocacy groups have not pushed for stricter gun laws. It would make the their jobs much safer.

Are they of the opinion that good guys with guns help them? I Agree it is not logical

I think it’s another area where you have an urban/rural divide. In urban areas, you likely have police groups who would support greater gun control while those in rural areas would be against it. And since there are far more rural sheriff’s departments & small town PDs than urban PDs, the rural groups set the overall agenda.

Yeah, larger metro PD often have (or used to have) gun buyback programs to get guns off the street. The guns were almost always destroyed. On the flip side, law enforcement agencies frequently trade in service weapons to get discounts on new ones. Those often appear at gun shows on tables run by a non-FFL dealer.
