True polling seems to show a lack of enthusiasm, for Harris, on the part of black voters more than black voters flowing to Trump.

I hate to be so cynical, but I'm less sure that the problem is that they don't know how to "communicate the perilousness" as that they just don't care and are perfectly willing to accept another Trump term in exchange for the higher ratings and website hits and subscriptions that he brings. Add in that more and more of our news media is being bought by right-wingers or is placing right-wingers in charge of their newsrooms and editorial content and here we are.
 


In my experience, Smerconish views it as centrist to adopt the take Trump seriously but not literally posture (with a built in assumption that Trump means well), giving Trump a pass for virtually all his incendiary and offensive rhetoric.

The second clip here is a perfect example of how frustrating it can be trying to discuss issues with Trump supporters. As soon as you point out their bullshit is just that, they revert to "well that's how I feel and there are lots of people who feel like I do". Like that's some kind of confirmation of their bullshit. Kudos to Cooper for calling it out for what it is.

I know Ben is becoming a gazillionaire on the backs of his gullible followers so it's probably all worth it to him, but his moral and intellectual debasement over the last few years has been a sight to behold. Ben is to conservative media what Vance is to conservative electoral politics.

I’ve tried to convince some of my conservative friends that Ben is just a very effective grifter with no real principles.

First, everyone wanted to be Limbaugh, then the demographics and consumption habits changed and folks saw the $$$$$ in going viral. Same. Ben used to be a good source for smart commentary on conservative politics. I can't make it through the first five minutes of his podcasts now. It's like an ultra-right wing Cookie Monster on bath salts.
