. . ..
If by chance I ever got the opportunity to vote for an amicable breakup of our country I would do it in a heartbeat. And I know that that would not be good for us but it would be better than where we are heading.
. . ..
Really? I live in Charlotte and I am old. I do not want to have to move just because a near majority (and outright majority of Gerrymandered legislative seats) of my fellow North Carolinians want to live in some Southern Baptist version of Iran. If the Protestant Ayatollahs take over and I have to move, I'd be lucky to get enough from the sale of my home to cover closing costs. And my home is paid off.

Happy 2026 to you!

This guy says he is going to report the truth about what is actually happening without fear or favor. That sounds like "straight news" reporting.

If he does this, then good for him and good for news reporting. Now the challenge will be for him and his editor/producer is determining which of the many events happening to report "truthfully " each evening.

My cynical takeaway from his "pledge" is that is nothing more than a public relations stunt. The naive hopeful me hopes he becomes the next Walter Cronkite... but I'm not holding my breath.

Totally expected.
Sad. But expected.
This is how it works.
But at the end of it all… the fascists will be on the wrong side of history.
Walter Cronkite has flipped over in his grave - yet again.

I mean, shit happens. I think the free rein given to Hegseth on their emergency first broadcast on Saturday to spout mindless propaganda without meaningful pushback or follow-up was far more egregious.
