Our daughter and her family live on the street above us. We do Christmas with her, her husband and the 3 children on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day we go watch the kids open their presents. When they were little our granddaughter(she’s the oldest) would call us at the ass crack of dawn to come see because they couldn’t go down stairs until we got there. They are in college now, and you just about have to drag them out of bed on Christmas Morning. At least I get to sleep a little later.
I remember the first time I spent Christmas with my former wife’s family.

The entire family made fun of how early her younger brother (age 26) got up on Christmas morning and made the rest of the family get up……5, 5:30, 6:00 am…..

On a normal day off, he woke up at 9, 10 or so.

He was the sainted child in the family, so they all accommodated him.

I told him that I was willing to be up and celebrating Christmas at 8:00 am (the youngest person in the house was 17). I added that if he woke me earlier, I’d go into a bathroom and not come out until 9:00 am.

The entire family was glad to end the childish early start to Christmas. 8:00 am it was (the 17 year-old was hoping for 10, but damn glad it wasn’t 5 or 6).

I was doing pretty good with this being the first Christmas without my father until I opened up the Christmas card from my mom and she had signed it "Love Mom and Dad"

Probably the saddest point I've been at since his passing in September.
My mom died in July 1996 and she left a card that would be found when we got out the Christmas wrapping paper/decorations.

Still not Xmas in Hawaii. But for the Aussie chemistry professors we hung out with today on the visit to Volcano National Park, it was already Xmas at home. Their whole jet lag thing is about figuring out what day it is, not so much adjusting to the time change.

Anyway, Merry Xmas to all who celebrate and to all a good night. Love you guys.

ugh....I fucking hate this "holiday" and not because I'm some scrooge. I hate it beccause it's 1) a christain appropriated "holiday" that has little to no value other than celebrating the birth of someone who wasn't even born in December & 2) even if i were to agree that it was a true celebration of not-white jesus' birthday, it stil has totally lost the meaning behind it with all the forced consumerism. People spending literally 1000's of dollars they probably don't have on someone else for shit they don't need simply because of a fake tradition or because targeted ads tell them "if you love him/her then you need to get them ______" is next-level stupid.

This will also likely be the last xmas my oldest son will be avaliable because he heads to his schoolhouse on Jan 8th then he'll go directly to his first duty station. Currently he's a PFC in the Marines and despite him likly being a LCpl by the time he gets to his next duty station (because he'll be in San Angelo for 9mo to a year for SigInt) he'll still probably not be gonna be granted leave for holidays anytime soon especially since he's unmarried. While I'm super proud of him and happy he's beginning his adult life on a good track...I'm definately gonna miss him A LOT.

Also, I turn 48 on Dec 26th...litereally the worst day for a birthday ever.

so yeah, xmas - and by extension the entire holiday season - can fuck right off.

Happy birthday.

We love going into town on Xmas eve day and watch the insanity of panic and rage to buy more useless stuff to prove to their loved ones that they love them. Its the epitome of America.

We were going next door to watch my youngest grandchild open presents this morning. Seems like my daughter in law got norovirus as one of her presents from work. (med tech at Memorial) so we're going to watch it by remote instead. Should be easier to feign interest. He won't care and I 'll see the ones he likes later. He's got more toys than all three of my kids had gotten by his age. It's not his parents but that he's likely going to be the youngest of his generation in our extended family. He gets lots of attention from everybody.

Merry Christmas. My time comes a little less than 16 hours from now.

Walmart closed early. 😁😢😥

While I did spend fat to much, I'm very fortunate to be able to afford it.

Also, my family is very practical. 95% of our gift are things we need. Like a vacuum or pots and pans.

What's happening in 16 hours?🤔

Happy Birthday...my daughter's birthday is the 27th, as was my mother's. From the day that her granddaughter was born my mother began the job of strictly enforcing the "No, 'This is your birthday present too' Rule." And she meant that thing.

We celebrated our traditional Griswold family Christmas yesterday. It was the best one ever ! ( I say that every year )

So I wish every one a Merry Christmas including the Radical Left Scum that is doing everything possible to destroy our Country, but are failing badly. We no longer have Open Borders, Men in Women’s Sports, Transgender for Everyone, or Weak Law Enforcement.

I've got the 29th covered so all we need is someone from the 28th, 30th and 31st to close out the year with birthday wishes here on the ZZL

And it really is the worst having a birthday right around Christmas and the all rolled into one presents.

And thanks for the support from everyone on a very tough day for me.

I will turn 74yo on the 28th and would get Christmas birthday presents combined 🙁

My dad once told me in his teasing sardonic style ( I inherited it from him ) : " Son, the best thing you have ever done is to be born before the end of the year so I could get a deduction on my taxes"

My dad's best Sarcasm was
"You boys are good at one thing Growing hair"
