Minnesota assasination thread

By no means am I generalizing about all Dems (politicians or otherwise) but, in the initial aftermath of the assassination attempt, these were some of the public statements of politicians...the people who are very contentious of what they say in public.
It looked to all the world to be some sort of stunt. I initially thought it was a stunt. It was incredibly improbable that a shooter like that would have gained access to the facility and that he would have shot Trump in a way as to inflict the minimum damage possible. If he had missed, we'd probably not know that much about it but anyway, sure, that's plausible. If he had hit anywhere else that would have been visible, there would have been no question. But the incredibly improbable shot on his ear lobe, combined with his behavior after, strongly suggested the possibility of a staged act.

There is no shame in speculating about that. It was an objectively reasonable position -- especially after the Trump campaign and the SS refused to answer questions, issued conflicting statements, etc.

And the world would 100% be a far better place had Trump been assassinated.

This is the equivalent of editing Hitler's Wikipedia entry to say, "A Jewish Austrian was accused of murdering 11 million people, including 6 million Jews, but despite his obvious innocence, was forced to take his own life because of the false accusations levied against him."

And what's the relevance of that? Aside from intentionally trying to mislead people into believing that the shooter was a Democrat or leftist, which you haven't seemed to have had a problem with thus far.
I would say it has no relevance. The guy is a MAGA religious nut.

This is a good example of how conspiracy theories start. It's also a good example of how you can state something that is factually accurate and it still be completely misleading.

This. Or maybe he thought he was bi when he realized that actually he was gay and it triggered some apocalyptic instinct.

Hey remember when the Obama administration (and subsequently the Biden administration) was worried about domestic terrorism? Was this maybe what they were worried about?
While MAGA followers were more preoccupied with questioning Obama's citizenship

BTW, the Times reports that the feds are bringing murder charges that would make the shooter eligible for the death penalty.

Under no circumstances should Minnesota transfer custody of this guy. It will be a tall order to expect Trump not to pardon a guy who killed Dems. Minnesota needs to convict him and throw away the key. Then let the feds do what they will.

I'm not a criminal lawyer but I'm almost sure there can be concurrent jurisdiction on these charges. Let the feds prosecute first. Who cares. But MN should certainly be able to prosecute under state law, which means this guy should be subject to life in prison, regardless of what Trump does.

It's 100% concurrent jurisdiction. But if the guy gets federally convicted, gets transferred to Ohio or Florida or wherever the fuck they might transfer him, and Trump pardons him, he might never return to Minnesota again. Think DeSantis would extradite him? He might, but I wouldn't count on it.

Take the bird in the hand. Let the feds come in later.

Yes, that is what happened with Derek Chauvin. There were concurrent prosecutions and he pled guilty to the federal charges after being convicted in state court. Given that Trump has talked about pardoning Chauvin of the federal charges, it is 100% certain that Minnesota will go forward with the state murder charges here.

Correct. MN should not put this guys fate in the hands of Trump’s pardon power.

I haven't seen any celebrations. If that's true, it's disgusting.

I'm just saying that there probably weren't many Dems, beyond those who are somewhat obligated to (Biden), that were itching to call Trump after the assassination attempt. I bet there were far more who wished the attempt was successful than we would like to admit.
"McCain is dying anyway"

Again we are normalizing behavior. So is it okay for Lee to say what he said (clarification)?

Just a note, wishing the attempt on Trump was successful is one thing. Saying it in social media is another.

No way Trump ever pardons Boelter. The jury is still out whether he's even MAGA. I'm seeing photos on line with Boelter in a "Resist" t-shirt standing by his wife in a "I think therefore I am a Democrat" t-shirt. Could be fake so I'm not posting them nor putting 100% stock in them...yet. I just don't see someone as MAGA if they have "No King" fliers in their car. It doesn't add up. We're likely going to learn more about this weirdo/killer in the coming weeks.

Feds need to try him since it brings the death penalty into play.
