Minnesota assasination thread

No one ever wants to be patient and wait for the facts to come out. Waltz et al already labeling it political violence isn’t helpful

This guy went to a lot of trouble in planning this. Seems a lot for some random right winger to go after 2 Dems that I’ve never heard of. There’s more to this story.
They have the guy’s manifesto and list of politicians he was targeting. How much more info do you think will be required to determine it was political in nature?

Also, one of the Dems you’ve never heard was MN Speaker of the House, so probably pretty well known in MN.

Police forced to search for a guy dressed in a POLICE UNIFORM. Tough assignment.
and yet they engaged him in a shootout before letting him get away and making excuses for how he's going to be hard to find, because they're absolutely useless when their job involves contributing to the common good
but i bet police are going to go absolutely nuts on protestors this evening!!

You ever been shot at before? Maybe instead of going full on conspiracy you could recognize that you have no clue what you are talking about.

So the guy goes to a home of a Democratic state congressman and the police find him and his wife dead. Then the police went to the nearby home of another Democratic state congressperson and the killer was there, having killed her. He went from one place to the other. Two targeted killings, both Dem officeholders.

Yeah, what would possibly make anyone think this was right-wing violence? It sounds like this guy took the MAGA scheme against Gretchen Whitmer and was a little bit more serious about it. There are MAGA all over the country making death threats to Dems and you think this was a personal vendetta?

"Other senators from swing districts, like Judy Seeberger of Afton, John Hoffman of Champlin, and Aric Putnam of St. Cloud, voted against the repeal."

Hoffman didn't vote to repeal. You do some great investigative work!
I, too, am shocked his Twitter sources led him astray.

oh please, miss me with the police apologia. i'm not suggesting police helped him escape, i'm saying that police, as a rule, are incompetent buffoons who have to invent crimes and criminals to make it look like they do anything good for their communities, and every time actual harm is done, are consistently unable to do anything about it. their solve rates are abysmal and they hide behind qualified immunity and DeShaney v Winnebago every chance they get.

it is in their job description to be better at being shot at than the people doing the shooting. "have you ever been shot at" is a non sequitur.

It is in a doctor's job description to save lives, yet people go to the hospital and die all the time. Your anger is misplaced, here. These cops responded to a home, were immediately engage and shot at, returned fire and the gunman escaped. There are hundreds of other cops literally risking their lives as we speak to protect the remaining people on that list and to hunt down an armed and dangerous gunman. This is not the thread for your ACAB nonsense.

Yeah, I'm not sure what got in that guy's bonnet. What is ACAB?

completely different ballgames. most trustworthy analyses set the rate of preventable adverse patient outcomes between 1 and 5%. that's basically American police's solve rate for serious crimes.

after uvalde, i can only laugh at anybody who seriously says that police are risking their lives to protect anybody.

I can literally provide you with hundreds of examples of police officers risking and many times losing their lives to protect the public. It is clear that you have a strange axe to grind against law enforcement, either because of a past criminal record or an anarchist streak. Either way, not appropriate for this thread. If you think you can do a better job, you are more than welcome to fly up to Minnesota and try and track down this guy yourself.

In 2022, police nationwide cleared 36.7% of violent crimes that were reported to them and 12.1% of the property crimes that came to their attention.\

Property crimes include small misdemeanors. A while ago, the CD player in my auto got stolen twice in one year. They smashed the glass. Each time I had to report it to the cops in order to get insurance coverage. I did not expect the police to spend a huge amount of energy trying to find the guy who ripped off $100 of merch. That's not bad policing. That's called priorities.

A great many do. I’m extremely critical of sloppy, unprofessional law enforcement and think it’s a major problem, maybe one the the top 5 issues facing the country, but I also recognize there are some really good people who do really good work serving as police all over the country.

Thanks, super. 36% is a lot higher than the 1-5% that the other poster was claiming.
