Good start to the ALCS for the Mariners.Probably shouldn't say this and jinks myself, but every team I've wanted to win has won their series, so far.
Hopefully Seattle and Milwaukee can win now.
My fear for the game last night was that we’d try to chase a win so hard that we’d end up further tiring our bullpen to make the attempt.Highly impressive work by the Mariners pitching staff last night, especially considering they were coming off the 15 inning do or die game Friday night. To give up a lead-off home on the first pitch of the game and then only give up one more hit the rest of the way against a disciplined offense that had destroyed the Yankees pitching in the previous series is pretty phenomenal. And they did it with a starter that went six innings on short rest and three hitless innings from three other relievers. Sets them up really well for the rest of the series.
Snoop, you must be in heaven now with your Mariners. One has to like a team where the gold-glove catcher hits 60 dingers. But I wouldn't mind the Canadian team taking the World Series during the first year of Trump 2.0. I'd consider it a sort of cosmic justice. My fear for the game last night was that we’d try to chase a win so hard that we’d end up further tiring our bullpen to make the attempt.
Instead, our 3 main relief pitchers threw 1 inning each and only threw 8 pitches each, so a fairly easy outing for all.
Weird fact, Miller had thrown 21 pitches after 4 batters and had gotten 1 out, given up 1 run, and had runners on first and second. From there he pitched 5.2 more innings on 55 pitches and only gave up on 1 more hit and 1 more walk. Our 3 relievers only threw 24 pitches in 3 innings and retired all 9 batters faced.
After Miller settled down in the first, that was an absolute masterclass performance by Miller and Speier/Brash/Munoz.
And it was even weirder cause it was Bryce Miller facing a red hot Blue Jays team. I had mentally moved on from game 1 but that was best case scenario to reset everything and get the winMy fear for the game last night was that we’d try to chase a win so hard that we’d end up further tiring our bullpen to make the attempt.

These Mariners are not messing around, they look to be very serious . . !And now the Mariners are already up 3-0 thanks to a first inning blast from JRod
No jinxHeck of a recovery by Varsho to keep it tied at 3 and a much needed quick inning from Gilbert. Suarez is starting to show signs of life at the plate which would be very nice for the Mariners going forward. Some hard hit balls the last couple of games with not much to show yet.
