Re-watched 12 Monkeys last night with my 19-y.o. son, who had never seen it. It always is amazing what a joy it is to re-experience something with someone you love experiencing it for the first time. He loved it and I really appreciated a lot of details I hadn't considered since I probably haven't seen it for a decade. The writing is really excellent in the attention to detail.

And the escaped zoo animals in Philadelphia rush hour is a gorgeous scene in what is mostly a visually downer movie.

Anyone going to see the Dylan movie “A Complete Unknown”? It opens Christmas Day. I’ve watched the extended trailers and I’m psyched. Of course it helps I’m a huge Dylan fan. It covers his 1961-1965 period so it’s classic Dylan.

I’m a pretty big Dylan guy and I’ll probably see it eventually. But I’m not excited to see Chalamet play him. I don’t really care how well he mimics the songs. I’d still have preferred an actual complete unknown.

I hear what you’re saying but Chalamet sings all the songs live and plays the guitar and harmonica. You have to give him that. I’ll probably go the day or so after Christmas. I can’t stay away since I’m such a fan of the artist and the era. Watch the extended trailers on YouTube

You should go on Christmas day and wear those new gold shoes. 😁

Not that big on Dylan, so I'll wait for the stream.

Yes! Forgot I was getting the gold sneakers and fragrance. The co moviegoers will love me.

I love Dylan so much. They cast Chalamet to bring in the teenage girls.

Forgot? I'm surprised you can handle the anticipation. 😁

Watched Conclave. I really liked it. Someone mentioned it was Oscar-baity and it definitely was that, but not in that overly sentimental way.

Part mystery thriller, part commentary on the politics of the church, part commentary on social issues at large. There’s more there than I expected.

It wouldn’t be my pick to win a lot of awards, but based on what I’ve seen so far, I could see it happening and wouldn’t mind it.

*edit to say that the Volker Bertelmann score is fantastic… and although I’m not super familiar with him, I instantly recognized it as very similar to the dark and eerie Oscar winning score from All Quiet on the Western Front. I wasn’t surprised when I looked it up and saw it was the same guy.

Great to look at, very stylish. Some big positives but overall I didn’t think it was that great.

This 1929 classic?? will enter the public domain in less than 30 hours. Warning: pre-Code film Sunny Side Up (turn on the heat sequence)

Nosferatu is the second film I’ve seen with Nicholas Hoult in a week and a half. The other was The Order. I enjoyed that more than I expected to. Only vaguely remembered that story from 40 years ago. This retelling is timely.

Can’t recommend this one highly enough. It’s a blast, but also more than just that.

I was in Barcelona and headed to the movies intending to see that, but the movie theater had music documentaries that night.
Definitely want to see it.

Watched "Anybody but you" with my wife.

It was your typical predictable romcom.

But the visuals were great.
