Had its moments. I don’t doubt some teens and young adults would love this, but it wasn’t very good.

I usually love Aubrey Plaza but the whole thing was thin, clunky, and forced.

Worth seeing. Some great performances including the Belushi and Chevy Chase actors, and lots of other good ones.

But overall the frenetic pace wasn’t enough to get me to care all that much, despite being a big fan of SNL and its history. It’s not all that funny or compelling. Most of the enjoyment is just in recognizing the characters and admiring the impressions.

Not great, not terrible. Saw it on a giant imax screen so it was quite the spectacle, as expected. And they tied in the original well enough.

But as I suspected, I just didn’t think Mescal was convincing enough, and he had trouble holding his own against Denzel. Much less able to break out from under the shadow of Crowe/Maximus. I watched the original the night before, and while this one was entertaining, it just doesn’t compare.
Saw it last evening and I agree 100% with your comments.

I’d give it a B, it was ok. The scenery was beautiful though — interesting to see that part of Canada 🇨🇦

Has anyone else seen Conclave? I watched it this weekend and really enjoyed it. I'd say it's a strong Oscar contender for Best Picture and Actor for Fiennes for sure, but possibly also Director, Supporting Actor for Tucci, Supporting Actress for Rossellini, Score, Adapted Screenplay, etc.
Saw Conclave over the weekend. Strong cinematography, great performances. Did not see that little twist at the end coming.

I’m a Sean Penn guy despite everything, and even apart from his artistic talents, I think we need people like him around. And of course the Academy are cowards, trying to present themselves as apolitical when the whole world knows Hollywood is anything but…

But The Apprentice ain’t the right hill to die on, it’s very weak support for his case. That thing is floundering not because of politically related cowardice — but because regardless of the artistic merits or any valuable sociopolitical messages, nobody wants to spend their free time watching *even more* trump. Too many people are sick of him. Studios know this and they don’t want to be saddled with a financial turd of whichever political leaning. It’s about money all right, but not in the way Penn is claiming.

The best movie I've seen in a long time is "Woman in Gold"
Check it out...

Re-watched 12 Monkeys last night with my 19-y.o. son, who had never seen it. It always is amazing what a joy it is to re-experience something with someone you love experiencing it for the first time. He loved it and I really appreciated a lot of details I hadn't considered since I probably haven't seen it for a decade. The writing is really excellent in the attention to detail.

And the escaped zoo animals in Philadelphia rush hour is a gorgeous scene in what is mostly a visually downer movie.

Anyone going to see the Dylan movie “A Complete Unknown”? It opens Christmas Day. I’ve watched the extended trailers and I’m psyched. Of course it helps I’m a huge Dylan fan. It covers his 1961-1965 period so it’s classic Dylan.

I’m a pretty big Dylan guy and I’ll probably see it eventually. But I’m not excited to see Chalamet play him. I don’t really care how well he mimics the songs. I’d still have preferred an actual complete unknown.
