I have my doubts whether this is either country enough or blues enough to fit your criteria, but posting it anyway:

Oh no, now you've done it. Somewhere in the next couple of pages, this will turn into an Uncle Tupelo/Son Volt/Wilco thread. It is law.

You're correct that this isn't really what I'm looking for. But I'm always down for UT/SV/Wilco.

Say no more, fam. If you've never heard of or listened to them... I envy you.

Behold, I give you The Red Clay Strays

I know this is very unscientific, but RCS is a little too rock for what I'm wanting.

Very good band, though.

Of what I've seen on this thread, it seems like Marcus King, Charley Crockett, and some earlier Sturgill probably best fit what you're looking for.

Don't know if this'll work, but here's another one with some blues country crossover,

This is a song written by Danny Flowers, a guy that was in high school with me. He was in Don Williams' band who first recorded this song and covered later by Eric Clapton.

Danny has a cd "Forbidden Fruits and Vegetables" which includes "Tulsa Time"

You might be very well correct. I very much like early Sturgill and I'm certainly going to check out Marcus King & Charley Crockett more.
