To be fair, though, it’s not like New England has ever had a decent QB.
Just think, Mack Brown went 9-5 and 8-5 with Drake Maye.

What a waste.
And Kliff Kingsburry went 7-6 and 5-7 with Mahomes. There is more to winning than an elite QB.

You mean after he got hired to be an NFL head coach (when certain UNC football “insiders” claimed UNC might get him as an offensive coordinator)? Or since he got hired as an NFL offensive coordinator?
With a decent defense we would have made at least one CFP. That was our chance and Mack blew it.
Currently.
He failed as a head coach at Texas Tech and as a head coach at the Arizona Cardinals.
He appears to be one helluva OC.
That is not the point. I am not saying that Kliff was a great coach; I am saying that Mahomes was a great QB and still failed. A great team can win without a great QB. But a great QB cannot win without at least a good team.
Mack had a few good pieces around Drake and an amazingly easy schedule, but neither the 22 or 23 team was very good as a whole team.
If you put Gio Lopez on those teams instead of Drake, we may not have even been .500.
My point is that Mack 2.0 sucked as a D1 head coach.
Turns out that so did Kliff Kingsbury.
He didn’t suck. That must should be clear from the current suckitude we are watching. But he clearly wasn’t very good the second time around.

Maye, Hampton, and Downs for that first one.
Hampton started in only 3 of 13 games played and only had 88 carries in 2022.

1. We definitely would have not been .500. Probably considerably under.
2. In fairness, Drake didn't play that well second half of his sophomore season.
